What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Woodbine Mile (G1)...

After her neck winning thriller over Theyskens’ Theory in Saturday’s Garden City Stakes (Gr. I), I began to ponder about all of the grey and roan thoroughbreds out there today. The greats usually come few and far between but last couple years have proven different as there are a handful of them whic...Read More

As autumn nears, people anticipate cooler temperatures and the changing of the leaves, just as horseplayers look forward to the Breeders’ Cup and the prep races that precede it. This Sunday, Woodbine Race Course in Toronto, Canada hosts the $1,000,000 Ricoh Woodbine Mile contested at 1-mile on the t...Read More

  • arazi · Good article. Hmmm.... does not say much for Turallure or Courageous Cat. Any guesses why Woodbine Mile runners have been so unsuccessful at the BC? · 611 days ago ·

  • Winplacsho · I think its mainly because the Europeans have a high success rate, but also I don't think many trainers want to ship their horses just for a prep & then ship them again for the Breeders Cup. · 610 days ago ·

  • mshutty · Court Vision has won only one race this year and it was the 2010 edition of the Woodbine Mile. He's another year older and other horses are improving at the right time. I like the Side Glance but Courageous Cat appears to be the one to beat. Turallure and Right One deserve some consideration underneath or even as possible upsetters for the win · 614 days ago ·

Fifteen years ago, Skip Away won the last edition of the Woodbine Million, ushering in a new September event at Woodbine. Was the switch to the Woodbine Mile an evolution or a devolution from its long-lost predecessor? Read More
  • zatt · I loved the old Molson Million, Prized, Izvestia, Peteski, Dramatic Gold, and of course Skip Away, but the Woodbine Mile has also been an excellent race, and fits in with Woodbine's turf emphasis in the fall. Having said that, this year's field does look a bit weaker than usual. · 616 days ago ·

Looking at some PPs...Turallure looks solid as well. Right One and Turallure are my bets.
Six-year-old Court Vision will try to defend his crown when the Grade 1, $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile field goes to the post on Sunday. He'll be racing for a new owner, Spendthrift Farm, who purchased him last month, and a new trainer, Dale Romans.  But he'll have the same rider, Robby Albara...Read More

  • woodbine · Court Vision beat a better field than this last year. The Usual QT, who should have won last year, is days better than most of this unheralded bunch. Court Vision's lack of recent form is the problem Sunday. · 616 days ago ·

An expert in orienteering would have had trouble tracking down Kara's Orientation in his most recent start, a victory in the Grade 2 Sky Classic Stakes.
