What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Vosburgh (G1)...

The Belmont Park stewards suspended jockey Rajiv Maragh seven days for careless riding aboard Calibrachoa coming out of the gate in Saturday’s Grade 1, $350,000 Vosburgh Invitational.Maragh has appealed the suspension and will be permitted to ride until a hearing is held. A few strides out of the ga...Read More
  • MableRoberts1 · As the rest of the article says... " This was the second time that the stewards suspended Maragh for a gate infraction in a major race. In the Belmont Stakes, Maragh was suspended for allowing Isn’t He Perfect to come over on Mucho Macho Man, who in turn squeezed Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom came out of the Belmont with a leg fracture and has been sidelined the remainder of the year." He ruined a 3 year old campaign that I would say "WOULD" have been electric for Animal Kingdom. For Animal Kingdom to finish 2nd in the Belmont after such a disaster is remarkable. I know he would have obliterated Uncle Mo, Stay Thirsty, and all of the other 3 year old colts this year. He has serious attitude, a want for the win, and could pick them off one by one! I guess I find it hard to forgive Rijiv, especially after this. · 237 days ago ·

Giant Ryan had won five straight races – including the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap, a “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint – but that didn’t command him much respect heading into the Grade 1, $350,000 Vosburgh Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park.   Sent off at odds of 12-1 in...Read More

The Peter Walder-trained Force Freeze entered Monmouth Park’s Teddy Drone Stakes on Haskell Day as a virtual unknown, having run his previous 13 races in Dubai.   But after running six furlongs in 1:07 3/5 and beating last year’s Cigar Mile winner Jersey Town by four lengths, the 6-year-old ins...Read More
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin and owner Nicholas Brady's Mill House have one primary goal for their outstanding colt Trappe Shot - to see him in the winner's circle following a Grade 1 race. • AmbitiousD · Mo really ran his heart out as if almost telling his owner he wanted to keep racing. I truly hope Repole doesn't retire Mo. These horses are athletes and warriors and in any major sport, there will be injuries and illnesses when competing at the top level of competition. Imagine if every NFL QB retired after receiving a concussion. It's difficult to watch horses get retired with such a "half glass empty," or a "what could go wrong, will go wrong" mentality. True champions are defined by the adversities they overcome and proving their greatness.Common Mikey, let him run!!! · 274 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · He made the comment right after the race. I don't believe any channel showed it, but it was reported on DRF and USA Today that he said that. However, he now seems much more upbeat. It looks as though Mo will go to the PA Derby, where he will face THAS. · 273 days ago ·
