What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Santa Anita Oaks (G1)...

Keenland has been hosting some very exciting race that feature top class fields this season and they look to continue that trend on Sunday when a field of six three-year-old fillies lines up to compete in the 26th edition of the Beaumont Stakes (gr.2). While the 7 furlong Beaumont has not proven to ...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · Nice Brian, I hope you have a great day at the races! It seems to be the consensus so far from what I have heard that Honey Chile looks like the best longshot running. · 1098 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · @mshutty - I agree, it was a bold move for him to take such a good filly off the Oaks trail, not many trainers would have been able to resist the temptation. I'm eager to see how Tell A Kelly runs, she's been out for a little while and will be very fresh. · 1098 days ago ·

The year 2009 will best be remembered as it pertains to the Kentucky Oaks by Rachel Alexandra’s jaw-dropping 20 ¼ length victory, but one other very significant ritual was inaugurated for the 135th running of the Kentucky Oaks. • KyOaksRunner · It's going to be a fantastic race, and what a great field entered in a race that honors one of the greatest 3-year-old fillies of all time. I think Kathmanblu is the class of the field though Inglorious is pretty intriguing. · 1158 days ago ·

Turbulent Descent may have set a new stakes record in the Santa Anita Oaks (gr.1) on Saturday but the talented 3-year-old Congrats filly has unfortunately been removed from consideration for the Kentucky Oaks on May 6th. She will instead be pointed for one turn races throughout the year where traine...Read More
  • zatt · Kathmanblu remains my top choice ... I was surprised to see she is 12-1 on the Oaks Pool ML. I am not sure who I like 2nd best between Dancing, Zazu and Tricky, my guess is Dancing but I will have to see how she rebounds from a dull performance in the Davona Dale. I do not think R Heat wants 9 furlongs at Churchill. I already placed a future bet on Inglorious for the Queen's Plate :) · 1135 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · I was very sursprised her odds were so high as well, I can't figure how they placed her behind R Heat Lightning, Dacninginherdreams and Zazu, it's pretty clear she's the leader of the division right now. Dancinginherdreams is definitely me second choice for the Oaks right now, I think she could end up beind better than Kathmanblu. Unfortunately I felt she should be dropped a spot because Zazu has been running so well and her last race she appeared to flatten out in the stretch. I'm hoping Inglorious heads for the Oaks, it would make for an exceptionally strong field if the majority of these fillies wind up in the gate. · 1135 days ago ·

The Santa Anita Oaks (gr.1) was not just another 3-year-old filly race this year; it will go down as one of the best performances of the season. Billed as a two horse race between the competing queens of the West Coast that’s exactly what it came down to at the wire. May Day Rose predictably took th...Read More

Turbulent Descent sat the right tactical trip under David Flores and turned the tables on Zazu in Saturday's Santa Anita Oaks (G1). May Day Rose set sail from the rail and posted reasonable fractions of :23.31, :46.67, and 1:10.67 over the speed conducive Santa Anita Park main track. Her stablemate ...Read More

It doesn't get any better than what these two fillies show coming down the stretch. unvelievable, it was like watching a game 7 world series classic between the dodgers and yankees in a nail bitter. The best horse won in track record fashion deserving the oaks in a thrill stretch run zazu show a lot of heart down the stretch but the winner turbulent descent also show tremandous heart down the stretch to prevail like a champion. · 1138 days ago ·

Zazu and Turbulent Descent, the top two finishers in the Las Virgenes (G1), meet three rivals in Saturday's Santa Anita Oaks (G1). Turbulent Descent captured all three of her juvenile starts and concluded her 2010 season with a good looking tally in the Hollywood Starlet (G1) in December. She made h...Read More
  • medlocke · The Santa Anita Oaks should be another great race between these two classy fillies. It will be the fourth time they've faced each other in their short careers. Looking at the three previous races between Turbulent Decent and Zazu, It appears to me that Turbulent Decent has the edge on the synthetic surface. Having beaten Zazu in the Moccasin Stakes and the Hollywood Starlet Stakes. Both times on the all-weather at Hollywood Park. But it looked as if Zazu may have the quicker turn of foot on conventional dirt between the two. When she reversed form on Turbulent Decent and beat her at Santa Anita in the Las Virgenes Stakes. Turbulent Decent ran very well in that race on the dirt also. But I'd have to give an ever so slight edge in the Santa Oaks to Zazu with the race being back on the dirt again at Santa Anita.
