What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Santa Anita Derby (G1)...

This makes Mr. Commons my top long shot for the Preakness. 15-1 or more on Mr. Commons to be draped in black-eyed susans? Count me in … For more full disclosure; I said the same thing about Animal Kingdom for the Derby two weeks ago.Read More

And then there were just four. With confirmation today that both The Factor and J P’s Gusto won’t run, only four horses that have been based on the West Coast at some point in their career are left as contenders for the 20 spots available in the starting gate at Churchill Downs for this year’s Kentu...Read More

  • mdoche · It will be interesting to see if Rosario would ride Anthony's Cross over Brilliant Speed. Baffert and Espinoza team up with Midnight Interlude in War Emblem style. Very interesting since Espinoza doesn't really ride for Baffert anymore. · 760 days ago ·

Can Midnight Interlude make an impact on this year’s Kentucky derby? Granted, it’s been a strange year. Injuries took down some nice colts while over-hyped allowance winners failed to meet expectations. In the stakes races, contenders have taken turns playing King of the Mountain. With the Derby pic...Read More

  • brent.austin.neikirk · I love this horse especially for this year's weak Derby field. He has the pedigree, the trainer, enough stamina influences, the tactical speed needed to navigate through a large field of horses and quick turn of foot, shown in the SA Derby, that his daddy and bms both were known for. He just had a solid work, too! Watch out for this guy!!! · 763 days ago ·

Some people think Uncle Mo can go more than 1 1/16? They didn't wwatch the Wood, I guess. Sa field was a tough field. I had Midnight Interlude as top horse then didn't play him because he was inexperienced. Shame on me.
Midnight Interlude jumped from a maiden winner to a Grade 1 victor in less than one minute and fifty seconds with a strong run in the Santa Anita DerbyRead More

  • KyOaksRunner · Midnight Interlude showed maturity beyond his experience when he made his run down the stretch. To get around Comma to the Top after checking sharply and go on for the win was very impressive. Comma to the Top was really game, great effort from him but he needs to start running straight when they enter the homestretch! · 775 days ago ·

Premier Pegasus is clearly the horse to beat in the Santa Anita Derby. What’s that? He is out four months with a hairline fracture; OK, no problem. Jaycito will finally step up to center stage and take the one million dollar race in style. Huh? Jaycito has been scratched with a foot bruise. Well tha...Read More

i am not sure who will win the S.A. Derby, it could be comma to the top, antony's pride, jaysito ,mr.commons or bench points. i am living out Silver Medallion, i do not trust G.Gomez
watch out ? there will be big upset in Santa Anita Derby? since premier pegasus is out, no body has prepared for their horses to actually win the derby. i am not going to put any bet on uncertainity.
if Premier Pegasus is out, look for Silver Medallion to outkick Anthony's Cross, with Jaycito breathing fire in 3rd.
  • amfuller · looks like Jaycito might be scratched as well, he's battling a foot bruise that is still bothering him and a decision will be made tomorrow. · 778 days ago ·

It feels like this race is ripe to produce a new shooter who becomes a major player. It could be Anthony's Cross, Mr. Commons or Indian Winter... but my money is on Silver Medallion. He should put in a solid closing run here.
