  • medlocke · I think Treasure Beach is a much better horse than the "so-called experts" gave him credit for being. If Mikhail Barzelona mistimes his ride at Epsom on Pour Moi by even a second, we're looking at a dual Derby winner in Treasure Beach. And if history has taught us anything, it's that only special 3yr.old colt's win both the Epsom and Irish Derbies. I.E., Shergar and Galileo both spring to mind immediately as having won both, along with the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. · 336 days ago ·

Midday was not only beaten, but handled very easily in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes at The Curragh by Irish 1000 Guineas winner, Misty For Me!! This win gives the 3yr.old Misty For Me her the 4th G1 win of her career as only a 3yr.old. She just went to the lead, and caught Midday flat footed. Out paced Midday very easily, and ended up pulling away to beat Midday by some 5+ lengths!!
The Pretty Polly Stakes will be Snow Fairy's 2011 seasonal debut. Midday already has a win at York in the G2 Middleton Stakes, and a 2nd place finish behind St Nicholas Abbey at Epsom in the G1 Coronation Cup. So it's logical to assume that Midday will have a decided fitness advantage over Snow Fairy this time. That said, when Snow Fairy went to Japan and Hong Kong and won both the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup and the G1 Hong Kong Cup, there wasn't another turf horse anywhere in the world, male of female, that had better form at the time than Snow Fairy. If she's able to eventually get herself back to the level she was at in Japan and Hong Kong? I think Snow Fairy has a very real possibility of reversing last year's Yorkshire Oaks outcome with Midday this year. I also think that the 3yr.old Aidan O'Brien filly, Misty For Me, is a very interesting runner in this race. She's not officially rated as high as Midday or Snow Fairy are. But Misty For Me is already a 3 time G1 winner as a 3yr.old herself. Having won the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and the G1 Prix Marcel Bousac in 2010. Plus a win in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas in 2011. This should be a really great race among some very high class fillies and mares!!
chrysanthemum is or should be ready for a great run...
