  • JanicePalmer · Very good point, but let's be completely accurate here. Larry not only said he believes she's the best filly he's ever had, but quite possibly the best horse he's ever trained -- including Hard Spun. That's some high, high praise! · 350 days ago ·

ok, I have been "visiting" this site for almost 2 years now, but never felt the need to make any comments. Today I made an account because I feel I have to say this. Before I do, I just want to say Gracie is an amazing horse, really working her way towards the top if she isn't already at it. But if Gracie didn't wouldn't have won this race, then something would have to be seriously wrong. When I say that I mean she ran against ACTUAL claimers! It should have been a stroll in the park for her. (as it was). Beating these horses is nothing to brag about, half of them ran in claiming races! But yet what gets me the most, is how you hear nothing about her racing claimers. Now I'm sorry to bring up Zenyatta again, but I saw the bashing that people were doing to her, and when she ran against horses that didn't win any G1 events, they repeatedly said "lackluster campaign, no campetition, no one to challenge her at all, she ran against 'optional claimers'". Now when Gracie runs against ACTUAL claimers, you hear nothing about her easy competition. People are praising her for this win? Gracie is a great horse, beating switch, blind luck, absinthe minded and more fillies is no easy feat. But if she wants to get HOY she has to step up her competition A LOT from this race. Run against the colts Gracie, you can do it, you are a great horse.

  • arazi · RArules. Well said. I think the point everyone needs to remember is as the accolades get higher, the bar gets that much higher. When that's pointed out, some people take it as bashing. But as long as it's not over-the-top negative, or personal, it's not bashing. You're right to point out that HDG, as good as she is, has a long way to go to HOY. That's an honest critique. As for Brian's article, I think he's made a good point that HDG has put together a great first 1/2 of the season, putting her in place for the potential to win honors down the road. To your point, she has to step it up to get HOY, and I don't think anyone would argue with that. · 350 days ago ·

Larry Jones has been fortunate enough to train some very talented fillies—Eight Belles, Island Sand, Proud Spell, and Wildcat Bettie B are among them. But according to Jones, Havre de Grace might not just be the most talented, she could be the best horse—male or female—he’s ever had in his barn.“It’...Read More
  • dubby30 · Most talented horse in America hands down, I think she will breeze on Saturday and trounce the field in the Delaware Oaks, and then bring on the boys. She's that good. · 355 days ago ·
