What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Nassau Stakes (G1)...

MIDDAY became the first filly to win the Nassau Stakes three times with a popular success for Sir Henry Cecil on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.Cecil was winning the race for a record eighth time as Midday posted her sixth win at the highest level and took her career earnings past the £2 million...Read More
  • rossington · Midday beats Snow Fairy for the second time in her career. This time over 10f to claim her third straight G1 Nassau Stakes. Midday also beat Snow Fairy last season at York over 12f in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks. A race that it's very likely that we'll see Midday, Snow Fairy, and Crystal Capella all line for next month at York. · 302 days ago ·

Another classy win by Midday, who has now completed a hat trick in the Nassau. She will probably be pointed toward the Yorkshire Oaks in mid-August, but may not be coming over for the Breeders' Cup. Sir Henry Cecil mentioned as much after the Nassau, since he's not particularly fond of Churchill Downs (or running under the lights).
Midday takes on six rivals Saturday as she bids to become the first mare to win three renewals of the Group 1 Nassau Stakes, highlight of the final day of Glorious Goodwood.   Post time for the Nassau, the third race at Goodwood, which will be simulcast live at Saratoga, is 10:10 a.m.   Ju...Read More
It looks about 95% certain that Midday, Snow Fairy, Crystal Capella, Misty For Me, Sajjhaa, and Theysken's Theory are all going to line up against each other on Saturday at Goodwood in the G1 Nassau Stakes. If all of these fillies and mares listed make it to the same starting gate? I think it will rival last year's G1 Yorkshire Oaks field as one of the strongest G1's for fillies and mares that I've seen a very long time. The Nassau looks like it's certainly going to be a very competitive renewal this year.

  • medlocke · @footlick, You may be right about Misty For Me? Although, she has also won in G1 company at Longchamp in France. But I think you'd still have to say that the Curragh in Ireland seems to be her favorite surface. Midday's won the past 2 running's of the Nassau Stakes, and loves the surface at Goodwood. But I think any of the 4, Misty For Me, Midday, Snow Fairy, or Crystal Capella, at their best, are all capable of winning this race, IMO. · 305 days ago ·
