Amerman Racing’s Demarcation, void of early foot in Saturday’s Grade III Mineshaft Handicap, launched a strong bid after being set down for the drive, engaged Twin Creeks Racing Stable’s favored Mission Impazible inside the furlong grounds and outfought that rival to prove best by a head in the desi...Read More
It’s amazing what a Super Derby victory can do, especially if you are Fair Grounds-based jockey Jesse Campbell and you’re going to get to ride Adele Dilschneider’s 2010 Grade II Super Derby winner Apart back once again in Saturday’s Grade III Mineshaft Handicap at Fair Grounds.    The Min...Read More
Last year’s Grade II Super Derby winner Apart, owned by Adele Dilschneider, and 2010 Grade II Louisiana Derby hero Mission Impazible, owned by Twin Creeks Racing Stable, are set to match strides in Saturday’s Grade III Mineshaft Handicap at Fair Grounds.   Apart, the 2-1 early choice in the mo...Read More

WinStar Farm’s Drosselmeyer, hero of last spring’s Belmont Stakes June 5 but unraced since that victory, is now on schedule to come to New Orleans next week to compete in the Grade III Mineshaft Handicap Feb. 19, according to Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.   Although the son of Distorted Humo...Read More
  • medlocke · I don't like to sound negative. Because I really love to see all of the American horses run well when they ship to Dubai for the major G1 races on Dubai World Cup night. But speaking frankly, Drosselmeyer just simply isn't good enough to win, or even make the frame in the Dubai World Cup. To start with, all of Drosselmeyer's form is on conventional dirt. A very different monster indeed than the tapeta surface at Meydan. Secondly, his only major stakes win came over 12f in the Belmont Stakes against what is really a weak group of 3yr.old's compared to the number of multiple G1 winning older horses that Drosselmeyer will race against in Dubai. And last of all, if the DWC were raced over 12f? Drosselmeyer might have an outside shot at making the frame? But over 10f, against horses like Mendip, Musir, Allybar, Gio Ponti, Bold Silvano, Spring of Fame, and others who have thrived on the tapeta at Meydan. Drosselmeyer is likely to get out-paced badly over 10f. JMO. · 469 days ago ·
