The John Gosden trained 3yr.old, Nathaniel, proved too much in receipt of 12lbs. from a very game Workforce and St Nicholas Abbey to win the King George. But the race was marred by one of the biggest tragedy's the sport has seen for sometime. Sheema Classic and Prince of Wales's Stakes winner, Rewilding, broke down in the stretch, and will have to undergo euthanasia. Such a terrible, terrible tragedy. As Rewilding really had stamped himself as one of the very best middle distance turf horses in the world. A huge loss for Sheikh Mohammed, Saeed Bin Suroor, and Godolphin Stables.
Work force has the best chance.
My pick in Saturday’s Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot? Rewilding beats Workforce, Debussy, Nathaniel, and St. Nicholas Abbey.
