According to England's RacingPost.com web-site, Royal-Ascot did not get the amount of rain that they were expecting to get, and the track surface for tomorrow's King George is going to be very fast!! IMO, that makes Workforce a big time lay in this race. The worst race that Workforce has run in his career thus far was last in last year's King George. And I very much suspect that it was because of the track condition that day that Workforce ran so poorly. He doesn't like a fast surface. He very much needs cut in the ground, and he's just not going to get the kind of cut in the ground at Ascot tomorrow that he requires. Granted, Harbinger was a street better than anyone in last year's King George. But Workforce ended up 5th in that race. Well behind Harbinger, Cape Blanco, Youmzain, and Daryakana. I think this year's King George is going to come down to a 2 horse duel between St Nicholas Abbey and Rewilding. If St Nicholas Abbey's turn of foot works for him as well at Ascot as it did at Chester when he won the Ormonde Stakes or at Epsom when he won the Coronation Cup? I think he win's the race. If Abbey doesn't handle the surface at Ascot? Then Rewilding may bolt up easily? TJMO.

2011 King George VI and ...
The John Gosden trained 3yr.old, Nathaniel, proved too much in receipt of 12lbs. from a very game Workforce and St Nicholas Abbey to win the King George. But the race was marred by one of the biggest tragedy's the sport has seen for sometime. Sheema Classic and Prince of Wales's Stakes winner, Rewilding, broke down in the stretch, and will have to undergo euthanasia. Such a terrible, terrible tragedy. As Rewilding really had stamped himself as one of the very best middle distance turf horses in the world. A huge loss for Sheikh Mohammed, Saeed Bin Suroor, and Godolphin Stables.

2011 King George VI and ...
My pick in Saturday’s Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot? Rewilding beats Workforce, Debussy, Nathaniel, and St. Nicholas Abbey.
