What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Davona Dale (G2)...

The Gulfstream Oaks has come up with a diverse field of 7 three-year-old fillies set to contest the $300,000 race. Run in previous years as the Bonnie Miss Stakes the Grade 2 event is led by the Todd Pletcher trained R Heat Lightning, impressive winner of the Davona Dale Stakes last out, and the und...Read More

Summer Soiree and Plum Pretty won by explosive margins over the weekend in key Kentucky Oaks preps but there was one other race that may have produced a serious Kentucky Oaks contender. Arienza is beyond a doubt the most royally bred 3-year-old filly in the nation as the daughter of 2002 American Ho...Read More

The year 2009 will best be remembered as it pertains to the Kentucky Oaks by Rachel Alexandra’s jaw-dropping 20 ¼ length victory, but one other very significant ritual was inaugurated for the 135th running of the Kentucky Oaks. • KyOaksRunner · It's going to be a fantastic race, and what a great field entered in a race that honors one of the greatest 3-year-old fillies of all time. I think Kathmanblu is the class of the field though Inglorious is pretty intriguing. · 469 days ago ·

It was Premier Pegasus and Uncle Mo who stole the show over the weekend with their powerful Kentucky Derby prep wins, but one other sophomore runner turned in a performance just as impressive on Saturday. From 2008-2010 trainer Larry Jones and wife Cindy Jones have dominated the Honeybee Stakes, win...Read More

  • acarl · Great reading Brian. I would have the top 6 in exactly the same order. I am definitely looking forward to Kathmanblu and Inglorious II in the Louisiana Oaks. Joyful Victory was really impressive, particularly because the pace was pretty hot and she was sitting relatively close to it. Larry Jones is a great trainer. · 440 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · Dacinginherdreams had her run completely negated by being so close up. She just barely managed to get up for second but I think she would have been a whole lot closer if she had closed from far back. Lets hope she stretches out next time. If nothing else she sure got a lot of conditioning out of the Davona Dale. R Heat Lightning ran huge! · 457 days ago ·

R Heat Lightning, a disappointing 4th in her Forward Gal (G2) return on Jan 30, rebounded in a big way in Saturday’s one-mile Davona Dale (G2) at Gulfstream Park.   Hot Summer advanced along the inside to rattle off fractions of :23.92 and :46.53. Forward Gal winner Pomeroys Pistol hounded the...Read More

Despite of the disappointing run in the Forward Gal Stakes the runner-up in the Breeders' Cups Juvenile Fillies R Heat Lightning should win it because she was several times the fastest in the workouts at the Palm Meadows Training Center.
Forward Gal (G2) runner-up Dancinginherdreams heads a field of nine three-year-old fillies in Saturday's Davona Dale Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park. • ajump08 · JP, I hope so, I saw her break the maiden at Keeneland. I'd be suprised if she doesn't win. The one turn mile at Gulfstream has been the one race condusive to horses coming from off the pace (both stakes at a mile Soaring Empire and Dialed In). Every other distance has favored front runners. · 459 days ago ·

Kathmanblu has left no doubt as to whom America’s leading sophomore filly is in 2011, regardless of the surface. • KyOaksRunner · I love It's Tricky, unfortunately I haven't been able to see her race yet and I didn't want to list her without having been able to see it for myself but she has been on my "dark horse list" since her last win.
