Thompson has been invited to be a witness at a US Congressional Subcommittee on Health hearing to be held in Kennett Square, PA, on Monday, April 30. Read More

  • rorschach1992 · Did he actually state Mission Approved and Dean's Kitten as being some of the best in the WORLD???? MmmHmm. Is he not aware that they both ran on World stages and were absolute non-factors, Mission Approved 14th out of 16 in the Japan Cup and Dean's Kitten 9th and last in the BC Turf. That's really not a glowing recommendation for Cape Blanco. · 134 days ago ·

  • footlick · Mary Z.- I'm not sure he likes soft turf, which might be why they really haven't run him outside of Cal much. If the turf was to his liking, I certainly think he could have taken the Sword Dancer. The fact that he won the Pacific Classic, though has opened up even more options for him in California, so they may opt for a turf and synthetic year. · 144 days ago ·

  • LAZMANNICK · I wouldn’t hold a dismal finish in the Charlestown race against any horse. The track is essentially a bull ring, much like Fairplex, with very sharp turns. The track was also sloppy and sealed. It’s easy to see that he didn’t like that race based on how dismal he ran and yet he bounced back and won his next five in a row. As for the Kilroe Mile, Acclamation isn’t a miler and is zero for two in that particular race. He’s a true router who likes to set a controlled pace and when he can do this is very tough to beat. In fact the only way to beat him in a route when they are planning on taking him to the front is to challenge right from the beginning. · 144 days ago ·

Flat out European domination at Arlington Park today!! Treasure Beach win's the Secretariat, Stacelita win's the Beverly D., and Cape Blanco MUCH THE BEST in the Arlington Million!! Stacelita get's an automatic "win and your in birth" into the B.C. F&M Turf with this win, after failing to get the bid for the B.C. Turf in the United Nations. Although, I believe if Ramon Dominguez had been aboard Stacelita in that race instead of Joe Bravo, Stacelita would've beaten Teaks North that day. Treasure Beach is likely for the B.C. Turf now. This colt is absolutely for real!! Having beaten the King George winner, Nathaniel, in the G3 Chester Vase. Then he was mugged on the wire, beaten a nose by Pour Moi in the Epsom Derby, and then comes back to beat his stablemate Seville in the Irish Derby. Now he's also taken the premier G1 turf race for 3yr.old's in the US by winning the Secretariat. Treasure Beach was supplemented into the Breeders Cup for $25,000 by Coolmore during the early enrollment period. I'm not sure what race we might see Cape Blanco in at the Breeders Cup? But after win's in the Man O' War and the Arlington Million, I feel certain he'll be there. Well done to Coolmore-Ballydoyle Ireland, and trainer Aidan O'Brien today!!

  • LAZMANNICK · I love this point/counter point. I am a big fan of both, but have a softness for Manila because I believe he has been vastly underrated given his accomplishments and racing record. Jolly might have thought he would have fared well on dirt, but let’s not forget his first four lifetime starts were on dirt and he broke his maiden by 8 lengths in his fourth start. Impressive as that was he switched to turf in his next race. It was on turf that his potential started to show (the opposite of Cigar who was not distinguished on turf but became a champion when switched to dirt)……..That being said, I would rate Manila ahead of John Henry as the best turf horse in N/A history, but in my rankings this would still put him second to the great Round Table. Of 66 career lifetime starts, only 16 were on turf with 14 wins (including his first eight in a row), a second by a half length and a last place finish in the Washington Birthday when he cut his front heel. His wins were from 8.5 F to 12F and included the Arlington Hdcp at 1 3/16ths in 1.53.2 carrying 132 lbs., the San Marcos at 10F in 1.58.2 again carrying 132 lbs., and the 9F Stars N Stripes in 1.47.1 again carrying 132 lbs. his biggest feat on turf though was winning the United nations under a staggering 136 lbs. and giving the second place horse, Noureddin 19 lbs. They didn’t have an Arlington Million back then, but if they would have I’m sure Round Table would have made his presence felt. · 291 days ago ·
