Fifty Proof boosted his earnings over a half-million by winning the Grade 3 Eclipse. Not bad for an Ontario-sired gelding with just 12 starts to date.Read More

Juddmonte Farm's Redwood, making his North American debut, exploited an open rail to sweep past pacesetter Fifty Proof and win the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes (Can-IT) on the Woodbine turf course Sept. 19.Jockey Michael Hills guided the 4-year-old homebred son of High Chaparral to victory as the 9-5...Read More
Really like the progress that Redwood has been showing over his last four races. I've been following his racing in Europe, and this colt is really starting to peak. He ran 2nd to G1 Irish Field St Leger winner, Sans Frontieres, in the G2 Princess of Wales Stakes at Newmarket back in July. Redwood then went to Goodwood. Where he won the G3 Glorious Stakes during the "Glorious Goodwood" meeting. Then he was shipped to Deauville, France. Where he ran a terrific race. Just nosed out at the wire, and finishing 2nd in the G2 Grand Prix De Deauville. Then at Woodbine, Michael Hills ran a terrific race with Redwood. Holding the rail until it opened up at the top of the stretch. Then he brought Redwood home a half-length ahead of 29-1 longshot, Fifty Proof, to win the G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Prince Khalid Abdullah send Redwood to America along with Spanish Moon as Juddmonte Farms representatives in the 2010 Breeders Cup Turf. The two were entered together in the Princess of Wales Stakes in July. Where Redwood ran 2nd and Spanish Moon was 4th. Off of a long lay-off from the Dubai Sheema Classic.
The Woodbine Mile weekend has become my second favourite day of the Woodbine meet behind the Canadian International.
