Is it just me, that some of the horses that run in the Kentucky Derby lose their interest in racing? Please say that it is not just me. It didn't happen to Devil May Care or Sidney's Candy or Lookin at Lucky. But look at Mine That Bird and Supper Savor, has not won a race since.
  • Thead'or · Mine That Bird and Super Saver where trained at their peaks for the Derby and Triple Crown. MTB is obviously the better horse because he placed in all 3 races, but Super Saver just happened to be peaking at the right time. So that explains it. · 1374 days ago
On the equibase race results for the derby under split times it says Run-up 34 feet...what does that mean?
  • arazi · The timer doesn't start until the first horse is 34 feet away from the gate. · 1698 days ago
What Happened to Sydneys Candy? He was doing good then just looked like he stopped on a dime. he looked very nervous going into the gate. I wonder if it had to do with his patched hoof. Well how about make music for me? I am suret that blew up a lot of Superfectas, sure did mine.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to reduce the Kentucky Derby Future Wager time periods to only three days. It's important for that time to build up the pari-mutuel pool. It's still one of my favorite bets as there is always money to be made. Mine That Bird was part of the field last year, which turned out quite valuable. The field in the last pool was overlooked, and went off at a ridiculous price at 17-1. Why is that price crazy? Because even in the third field, you inevitably end up with a few horses, and it's likely that one or more is less than 17-1. And in 2009, you got several horses in that pool, including General Quarters at 10-1. Anyways, I bet $100 on that last pool and that saved me from a Derby day bloodbath.
