What the Nation is saying about the 2010 Fountain of Youth (G2)...

HUTCHESON   Rick Dutrow (D’Funnybone) – “I’m happy to get him back and run so well off the layoff. He’s our next little Benny the Bull. He’s a lot like him except for his color. We’ll definitely consider the Florida Derby. At this point, I’m not ready to concede that his race in the Breeders’ C...Read More

  • horses · I think people are going to be very surprised how well D'Funnybone stretches out. It's telling that Dutrow is willing to go in the Florida Derby and not opt for the one-turn Gotham or stay in the 7f Swale. Besides, it's not like you need to be a 9f horse to get 9f at Gulfstream when you're out near the lead... · 716 days ago ·

Kingfield Stable’s Buddy’s Saint was sent off the 9-to-5 favorite in Saturday’s $250,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park in his 3-year-old debut for trainer Bruce Levine. With regular jockey Jose Lezcano in the saddle, the colt ran into traffic in the first turn before...Read More

  • arazi · Wow, strong words, Cigar. But I do think you're on the right track. While you can throw the race out for Buddy's Saint, it's not a good sign that he didn't run a lick. And while we're talking FOY, let's not forget that EVERYTHING went Eskendereya's way. Great horse, but let's not forget that he sat second off a slow pace in a dream spot on the outside while two of the top players in the race were crunched in traffic trouble. · 716 days ago ·

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH   Todd Pletcher (Eskendereya) – “You’ve got to be excited when they perform like that in these kind of races at this time of year. I was particularly pleased with the way he finished. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten to the bottom of him. We threw a lot at him in the Breeders’ ...Read More
  • mdracing69 · Huge effort by Eskendereya in the FOY. He was #3 on my last Derby Top 10. When my new list comes out next week, the Pletcher runner will almost certainly shoot to the top. · 719 days ago ·

  • mid0827 · Was it me or was it the "Paceless Preps". Discreetly Mine was all alone on a half in 48 3/5. Conveyance took it to the Southwest field and ran them off their feet going a half in 46 1/5. Eskendereya rated in the perfect garden seat behind a turf horse and then inherited the lead when Lost Aptitude stopped. They went the half in 47 4/5 in that race. · 719 days ago ·

The big horse in trainer Nick Zito's barn is, point of fact, not very big. In terms of accomplishments, Jackson Bend ranks among the best 3-year-olds in the country, with 5 wins and 2 second-place finishes in 7 starts. In terms of physical stature, though, Jackson Bend won't be mistaken for a nightc...Read More
