Stately Victor, a 40-1 outsider, ran down a game Paddy O'Prado to capture the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland Race Course on Saturday. • rossington · A 40-1 shot win's the Bluegrass Stakes, and a 17-1 shot win's the Arkansas Derby? How the hell is anyone supposed to be able to handicap the upcoming Kentucky Derby? LOL. I guess it would be safe just to play Eskendereya and Sidney's Candy. Beyond that, who know's who might jump up and win the roses this year? · 1136 days ago ·

Let's just say I made the right (or some would say wrong) move by sitting out yesterday's big Derby prep races and just watching for enjoyment. The inset was basically the feeling of most bettors yesterday when 40-1 shot Stately Victor (most felt like Stately Victim) upset the Blue Grass and 17-1 sh...Read More

I really expect Odysseus to be a factor in the Toyota Bluegrass Stakes. But I wouldn't, at all, rule out Interactif being the colt that steal's the show. Interactif has been in a position to win almost every race he's ever been in. Every time he's lost, it's almost always been because Kent Desormeaux has gone entirely too wide with him. I'm not trying to run down Desormeaux. He's definitely a "top level" jockey. But I've just never really felt that Interactif and Kent Desormeaux were a good fit. Maybe the jockey change, to Rafael Bejarano will be the ticket that get's Interactif back into the winner's circle. No doubt that Bejarano is a top level jockey himself. And I'm one that believes that Interactif is a colt with a ton of potential. I really feel, with so many front runners in this year's Kentucky Derby, that a very good closer like Interactif could play a big role if the speed up front doesn't hold up for the entire 1-1/4 of the Derby. But let's see how well he come's through the Bluegrass Stakes first.

  • arazi · Interactif ran huge chasing Sidney's Candy last time out. Expect a big effort today. GQ is right... the speed bias is alive and well. Both Keeneland and Oaklawn favored speed on Friday - so keep that in mind as you watch these races. · 1137 days ago ·

Todd Pletcher at last has figured out how to win the Kentucky Derby.First you start a short-priced favorite in Wood Memorial winner Eskendereya. • gardenesque1 · I agree with Cigar that Interactif is versatile. Most of his races have been slow early/fast late, and that is not unusual in turf routes and synthetic races. I like the fact that his San Felipe pace figs when up but his final figure did not take a dip, which is a sign of an improving horse. Notice that he ran on the dirt twice, and in those two starts his pace figs exceeded his late/final speed ratings, which is the norm for conventional dirt sprints. All that being said, I would like to see Interactif take back and make a run because that style worked so well for him in a pair of Graded turf route wins last year. · 1138 days ago ·
