What the Nation is saying about the 2010 Ballerina (G1)...

I remember this race. I had Informed Decision and it looked like that horse was confussed running down the lane. Rightly So was a fast runner that day and it was pretty amazing seeing how fast the race turned out.
Trainer Bobby Ribaudo was disappointed but relieved outside his Clare Court barn Sunday morning, a day after a disastrous outing for his fleet 4-year-old filly Qualia.   The daughter of Saarland, owned by Marc Keller, was expected to have a strong chance to win the Grade 1, $250,000 Ballerina,...Read More
Rightly So led every step and earned her first Grade 1 win Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course with a front-running, four-length victory over Warbling in the 32nd running of the $250,000 Ballerina Stakes.   The consistent daughter of Read the Footnotes, never worse than third in 11 lifet...Read More
As far as the stakes races on the card, here’s how I see them: Race 8, The Ballston Spa (G2) - #8 CHEROKEE QUEEN is in position to rebound from a foul-up at the start of the Matchmaker last time out at Monmouth as she lost jockey Elvis Trujillo leaving the starting gate.  She entered that race....Read More
Informed Decision, the reigning female sprint champion, heads a field of eight in Saturday’s 32nd renewal of the Grade 1, $250,000 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.   In a sloppy edition of the race last year, Informed Decision was third, behind 5 ¼-length winner Music Note and 2008 ch...Read More
She may have finished 3rd in a couple of races earlier in the season. But I think Informed Decision is showing signs of improvement now. Race by race. She's bounced back to win the Chicago Handicap. A race that saw Informed Decision have quite a tussel with Rinterval herself. Then took the Windward Stakes, beating Hooh Why. Julien Leparoux seems to always manage to get the very best out of Informed Decision. I think she's still going to be a big player in this year's Breeders Cup F&M Sprint. Much like Zenyatta. She's raced more often, and obviously prefers the synthetic surfaces to conventional dirt. But Informed Decision can, and has won over conventional dirt as well. Once coming in the slop at Churchill Downs in the 2009 Humana Distaff. The conditions for that same race were nearly identical in 2010. But Informed Decision ran 3rd in the 2010 Human Distaff. But I think she'll be even more effective over a dry, fast Churchill Downs track. Provided those late Autumn rains that can so often plague Kentucky in early November stay away.
Jonathan Sheppard’s gray gals – champions Informed Decision and Forever Together – are slated to make their next appearances at Saratoga Race Course.   Informed Decision, the reigning Champion Female Sprinter, is targeting the Grade 1 Ballerina on Travers Day. The 5-year-old will be cutting bac...Read More
Trainer Robert Ribaudo said Monday morning that he plans to accept Grand Couturier’s invitation to Saturday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Sword Dancer Invitational at 1 ½ miles over the Saratoga turf course.   The 7-year-old veteran, owned by Marc Keller, will try for his third Sword Dancer victory on S...Read More
Secret Gypsy exited her victory in Sunday’s Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap in good shape and will return to Delaware Park tomorrow morning, said trainer Ronny Werner.   Undefeated in three starts over the Saratoga main track, Secret Gypsy remains under consideration for the Grade 1 Ballerina ...Read More
Grand Couturier, winner of two consecutive editions of the Grade 1 Sword Dancer in 2007 and 2008, will make another bid for his third victory in the 1 ½-mile turf test on August 14. The 7-year-old son of Grand Lodge finished fifth in the 2009 Sword Dancer and was most recently seventh in the Grade ...Read More
