Horse racing needs rivalries. It attracts fans and media attention, which is always great for the sport. Two weeks ago on July 16, 2011, at Delaware Park, Blind Luck met up with Havre de Grace for the sixth time in their careers in what has become one of horse racing’s top rivalries. Here’s their st...Read More

  • timgsmith10 · How can you say 1 has had a stronger career than the other yet? The season is half finished and maybe one or the other continues to race next year? As of right now HDG and B.L are VERY close in form and I wouldnt be surprised if HDG turns the tables at least 1 more time. And this realistically it will only make the rivalry stronger. · 661 days ago ·

  • footlick · They do seem evenly matched to me. Even though Blind Luck has come out on top more, not much really separates them. Blind Luck may be a little more impressive because she is not as tactical and it is always more difficult for the less tactical horse to win, but still there is not much difference between them as far as I'm concerned. · 661 days ago ·

The top four finishers from Saturday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Betfair TVG Alabama all appear to have emerged from the race in good order.   Alabama heroine Blind Luck was reported to be a “happy horse” by Archie Cross, assistant to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who is also a co-owner of the filly wit...Read More
Blind Luck’s keen eye found the wire first again Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course as she rallied from last to edge Havre de Grace by a neck and win the 130th running of the Grade 1, $500,000 Betfair TVG Alabama Stakes. Read More
During his 31-year training career Jerry Hollendorfer has had his picture taken after winning prestigious races such as the Hollywood Futurity, Haskell Invitational, and Santa Anita Handicap, but there is a 1991 photo taken after a victory at Belmont Park in 1991 he particularly cherishes.   “A...Read More
Better known as a top breeding operation that has produced more than 120 stakes winners, including Venetian Way (1960 Kentucky Derby) and Pike Place Dancer (1996 Kentucky Oaks), Glencrest Farm has remained relatively low-profile when it comes to racing horses.   This year, however, the small s...Read More
When a striking 2-year-old daughter of Saint Liam stepped off the van from South Carolina at Tony Dutrow’s barn in May of last year, all the trainer could say was “Wow.”    “Like all of [owner] Rick Porter’s horses, she was big and beautiful, and I looked at her and said, ‘I am so glad tha...Read More

  • medlocke · Save Zenyatta, because it's so hard to think of her as a filly or mare because of her behemoth size and ability. I really believe that Blind Luck is the best filly racing in America right now. As I said, besides Zenyatta. She's also a confirmed late closer who's closing kick has worked very effectively for her in 2010. Devil May Care is also an outstanding 3yr.old filly. But she likes to rate a bit closer to the lead than does Blind Luck. This should be quite an intriguing race. Whether or not Blind Luck's late closing kick can catch the front end speed of Devil May Care? One thing I am convinced of. Blind Luck or Devil May Care, both, could beat Rachel Alexandra based on the form that Rachel has raced with so far in 2010. But I like Blind Luck to just edge out Devil May Care in a very close finish. I think Blind Luck is an outstanding 3yr.old filly with a world of talent. Baring injury or a set-back of any kind? I really think the sky is the limit for this filly. JMO. · 1008 days ago ·
