cigar · Hmmm... so Vale of York flops. He beat Lookin at Lucky, who granted, had a wide trip, but with a better trip might have won by a length or two? Lookin at Lucky has yet to return, fever etc. The point? The BC Juvenile is coming back somewhat weak I would say. · 1178 days ago ·

medlocke · Godolphin Stables has to pleased with the outcome of the Al Bastakiya, but not because of Vale of York's performance, but because of his stablemate Mendip's performance. Vale of York raced in the primary set of colors for Godolphin, why Mendip raced in their second set of colors. But Frankie Dettori, who usually get's first choice of which Godolphin horse he want's to ride must have known something, because Dettori chose to ride Mendip. Mendip broke his maiden in September on the all-weather track at Kempton, drawing away easily to win. He next raced in February at Meydan in the 4-Men Conditions race, once again drawing away easily to win. Then on March 4th, in his third lifetime start at Meydan in the Al Bastakiya, dusted the field over in Dubai with relative ease. Making the Godolphin colt now 3 for 3 lifetime, all over all-weather surfaces He's scheduled next to try the turf on May 1st in the stanjames.com 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. · 1177 days ago ·

DubaiRaceNight · Mendip's run was, in my opinion, a real illusion. He ran 1 3/16 miles in 1:59.42 - strangled back the speed, the top two under the wire the first time were the top two past it at the finish...Super Thursday at Meydan was the fastest the racecourse has been all meet, and they ran the third slowest 1,900 meters in the Al Bastakiya. I think laying down the law on Mendip needs to be withheld until a more truly run race. · 1177 days ago ·
