Older Comments about the 2009 Kentucky Derby (G1)...

I'm really curious. I know that a few of the "bigger name" horses that ran in the 2009 Kentucky Derby have now been retired. I.E., Pioneer of The Nile, Dunkirk, and Papa Clem. But I'm wondering what the status of some of the Derby contenders or horses that were injured and didn't race again after the Derby is? Musket Man, 3rd in both 09' Derby and Preakness. I Want Revenge, scratched the morning of the Derby. The Pamplemousse, scratched the morning of the 09' Santa Anita Derby. What is the racing status now on these horses? I know Desert Party just returned to the track with a win at Meydan in Dubai on 3-4-10 in the Mahab Al Shemaal. Friesan Fire and General Quarters recently got back in the game running 1-2 in the Louisiana Handicap at Louisiana Downs. But what of these other 09' Derby racers and contenders? Are we to ever see them perform back on the track again? I'd truly love to know the answer to that question.

I guess those who said he was a fluke are eating their words! MTB isnt a fluke, he hasnt been off the board since winning the Derby. Give credit where credit is due. He is a very nice horse and you are all mad you went against the Birdstones. How could anyone bet against a Birdstone? Duh, class horse all the way.
Has anyone figured it out yet? I'm still shocked. What a game!
I want to meet any serious handicapper that had Mine That Bird in the top four...heck, top ten of their selections and buy him/her a drink. I have never witnessed a bigger surprise win in my 30 years following racing.
Have to say that was the most puzzling Derby result I've seen in my 25 years following the Derby. The funny thing is in a normal race without national attention, this horse is 150-1...
Just don't suck-up into the "looks great in the morning" crap!
Pioneerof the Nile is so highly overrated. Let's see who Gomez and his agent choose. In the meantime, I am willing to bet anyone that Chocolate Candy will finish ahead of Pioneerfo the Nile in the Derby and that the latter won't finish in the top four.
There are just too many horses in this race... look at the list, who truly belongs?
