What the Nation is saying about the 2009 Jim Dandy (G2)...

Kensei had been a horse that I watched and admired for the better part of four seasons, and in the time that it took me to read four simple words, I knew he was gone. Kensei was a five-year-old son of Mr. Greel...Read More

  • JWC8282 · One of my favorites of all-time. Saw this horse break his maiden and win the Jim Dandy. It is a shame because I think he was coming back into form. R.I.P. · 944 days ago ·

Rachel Alexandra took down the boys again, and she did it easily in the Haskell (G1) over a sloppy track on August 2nd. Nothing that happened on Sunday was a surprise.  Read More
Kensei notched his second straight grade II score Aug. 1 in the $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga, as he pulled away from Warrior's Reward in the stretch for a convincing victory under Edgar Prado.A 3-year-old son of Mr. Greeley, Kensei scored another huge win for trainer Steve Asmussen, who onl...Read More
Momma always said: Dark Day, Don’t Play. Thing is, what do horses to watch mean on a day like today, unless some horse freaks and the world sees it, anyway. Even the Grade 2 Lake George is off the grass.Read More

With Quality Road's Pletcher saying the Amsterdam for him and Duke of Mischief saying he's going elsewhere plus all the other latest shuffling going on I don't even know who'll even run in the Jim Dandy.
Pletcher now saying Grd.2 Amsterdam 61/2 on dirt on 8-2-09 at Saratoga instead of Jim Dandy. Using this as possible tuneup for Travers.
A potential conflict could lead to jockey Calvin Borel snubbing Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird once again. Borel is tentatively scheduled to ride Mine That Bird in the $750,000 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Park on Aug. 1, but there is a possibility Borel could vacate the mount in favor o...Read More

  • mshutty · Totally disagree. Warrior's Reward will defeat Quality Road due to lack of current conditioning and questionable ability without a clear speed bias to work in his favor. Warrior's Reward is a late developer and will be ready for a peak effort at Saratoga. Not a big Calvin fan but he did make the right decision in this case · 1753 days ago ·

  • arazi · Regardless... this was a decision of the Nafzger/Wilkes barn over Mine That Bird... had nothing to do with Warrior's Reward. · 1753 days ago ·
