What the Nation is saying about the 2009 Indiana Derby (G2)...

Southern California shipper Misremembered stalked the pace patiently for six furlongs under Victor Espinoza before taking charge at the top of the lane and driving to a record-setting, half-length victory over late-running Giant Oak in the $512,600 Indiana Derby (G2) on Saturday at Hoosier Park.Read More

Depending on the defections, it looks like a good pace setup in here... and I think Win Willy can return to his winning ways, flying in the stretch...
The Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup will be run at Belmont Park on Saturday, October 3rd, and the favorite for the ten furlong test will likely be Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers (G1) hero Summer Bird. He is the other bird no more, and he has become especially dangerous since adding blinkers and showin...Read More
  • medlocke · I'll give Summer Bird credit where credit is due. Winning the Belmont and the Travers is more than respectable. But even his tactical speed and stalking trip will not help him on Saturday if the Belmont track stays dry. Quality Road's speed on a dry track, I think, will just prove to much for Summer Bird to tackle. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprise to see it be Macho Again making the big run at and trying to catch Quality Road just like he did against Rachael Alexandra. · 969 days ago ·

  • mdracing69 · Summer Bird does have some advantages in the JC Gold Cup. He is a grade one winner at Big Sandy and exits a grade one victory at ten furlongs. He has enough tactical speed to keep Quality Road in his sights as well. That being said, I still think Quality Road will prevail on Saturday. Summer Bird may have peaked in the Travers, while Quality Road should be rounding back to his Florida Derby form. Probably not a great betting race but I'll be glued to the TV nonetheless. · 969 days ago ·
