  • xMystix · I remember that year! I actually thought that with the win in the Arlington Million, that he had potential of becoming the Horse of the Year in 2009 because of his magnificent season at the time. I've always loved him. Saw him run in and win the Virginia Derby, bet on him to win, and haven't turned my back on him since :). Plus, he's been a sound horse and one that keeps running. · 181 days ago ·

  • GBeret · Gio Ponti is really on top of his game right now. He really owns North American turf racing at the moment. But he may find that facing Einstein on grass may be a little tougher than on dirt. But with Gio Ponti having the youth advantage on his side, one wonders when Einstein's age will finally catch up with him. Einstein's last outing in the Stephen Foster on dirt at Churchill Downs wasn't one of his better performances. Even though he managed to hit the board, he looked like a tired and beaten horse midstretch. · 932 days ago ·

This is a race that I'm really looking forward to. Many think Gio Ponti is the best turf horse in America right now, and he has looked very impressive of late. But I thoroughly expect Einstein to give him all he wants and then some. I've always felt that Einstein is a better horse on turf than he is on dirt, and he's pretty good on both. It would be hard to bet against Gio Ponti in this race but it won't surprise me if Einstein beats him.
