I know a lot of people talk about records, of course Man O' War set, equaled, track, world, american records probably more than any horse and I know Secretariat and others have too, but it's not just that. Someone brought up about Swaps, his 1 5/8th was faster than Secretariat, is Swaps better than Secretariat then? So, let's love them and have our favorites and stop arguing facts we can never really prove or rely on. |

Ruffian would have heard her coming and Jacinto Vasquez would have turned her loose. As a three year old Frank Whiteley was training Ruffian to conserve her strength and speed. Jacinto always let her run at the end of her races. Zenyatta's style as a closer would work against her if she ran against Ruffian. Too much ground for her to make up. |

One - Secretariat's 31 length victory in the Belmont, Damascus' 10 length victory over Buckpasser and Dr. Fager in the Woodward and Forego's improbable win the the 1976 Marlboro Cup. So thats how I'd rate them. I might juggle the order but those moments would be the top three. I like to hear your special moments that bonded you to a particuliar horse. |
