Az Ridge looks for a minor stakes victory

 Saturdays 8th race  from Turf Paradise {5:59 eastern post time} is a $35,000 stakes event going 1 mile on the turf. This is a very competitive race with 11 starters  with the #5 scratching  out .  I'm going with the #2 horse in here Az Ridge (10-1) ml odds. This 3yo gelding ran a uneventful 5th place finish last out after never really being put into good position to contend. He had a wide trip on the turf last out and was the beaten favorite also. He is capable of a much better effort than was put forth last out. He sports a 3rd place finish this year to Silver Max on the turf at Ind  Downs in a track record time beaten 8 1/2 lengths and a decent 3rd at Ellis Park at 1 1/16 mile on the turf beaten just over 2 1/4 lengths. He can run on dirt surfaces also with a nice 2nd at Fpx in a stakes race a couple races back.

He was in contention from the start. Gained a short lead in the stretch but couldn't hold off the #7 and #4 as they passed him in deep stretch and settled for 3rd at 7-1 odds. Good effort but not enough late when he needed it after pressing the pace the whole way.
