That is just too much for me to handle. I will ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU CAVORTING, The BEST FEMALE horse in the world SINCE ZENYATTA
  • Emily Tarantini via Disqus · Lol Have you lost your mind? Not even Top 10... · 12 days ago
  • sczen50 · I agree with you Thirsty! Yeah; since Zenyatta? Top 10 for sure. · 1 hour ago
How frustrating. Cavorting had shapen up to be a beautiful horse, and I was really looking forward to watching her run in the Breeders Cup. I hope she enjoys life as a broodmare. At least she's still at Stonestreet,
  • sczen50 · Yes Katie! Very frustrating! I honestly believe should would have made a dent in the top 3 in the Cup! Maybe even two of them. But now we'll never know. :( But at least she's doing okay now. Her health biggest concern. · 1 hour ago
Looks like the Turf Mile is his first preference, but he needs to draw in. Hope he does, much better shot there in my opinion, as opposed to the Dirt Mile, even with the Dirt Mile coming up lighter, just don't like that spot for him.
Would have to think he would go to the Dirt Mile? I hope so at least. He has a huge shot in that race turning back, where he has literally no shot in the Classic. 1 1/8 mile seems like his limit.
Although pre-entered, it doesn't look like Acapulco will get into the Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint. Does anyone know how the selection committee picks who gets in amongst the pre-entered besides the win and you're in races? Acapulco is likely 20th on the list and I'd pick her as the favorite. What a disappointment if she doesn't get in to have only an allowance race at turfway park and a $60k stakes race at Churchill for her 2016 campaign after winning at Ascot last year. Is Wesley kicking himself for at least not one prep?
Do you know what are the best career final fractions of each horse's competition in mile and a quarter races? California Chrome - 24.44 2016 Pacific Classic. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 6 Starts 4-1-1-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.93 (calculated) – 2014 BCC. Melatonin - 24.27 2016 Gold Cup race at Santa Anita. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 2 Starts 2-0-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.79 – 2016 Gold Cup at Santa Anita. Beholder - 24.65 2015 Pacific Classic. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 1 Starts 1-1-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.77 – 2015 Pacific Classic. Arrogate - 23.84 set a Travers Stakes & Saratoga track record. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 1 Starts 1-0-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.36 – 2016 Travers Stakes. Wish Beholder was racing in this year's BCC. She would definitely beat some of the boys.

  • sczen50 · Chrome's in the Pacific could've been wayyy faster! I agree that Beholder wish she was in. Oh, darn right she could beat some of these boys. Dortmind could beat some of these guys. · 3 hours ago
It is highly IMPROBABLE if not impossible, to compare "pressed" segmental velocity times to "alone on the lead" times. Many a horse, all by itself, run like tigers only to falter when battling through those first 4 furlongs. Before you can support a horse that is a front runner (like Affirmed for example or Lady's Secret) is to watch and compare the fractions the animal OVERCAME to get that lead. Once they show that (i.e. War Emblem was an example who needed to be alone on the lead or he faltered) adaptability, you can project, but the need to lead animals have a large Achilles Heel.

Looks like rain this weekend to Art is moving up Chrome's workout to Thursday before shipping to Santa Anita this weekend. Keep up the good work Chrome and we'll see you in the winner's circle! :)
I had been saying this all year- many times Taylor made has said they were enjoying racing with a horse so much that they wanted to target Pegasus Dubai and BCC next year for the big purses IF he was still training so well. When you have the best horse in the world- why would you not? Some people may call it greed but Chrome'/ connections have been most generous with sharing him with everyone and even chasing races that have hardly any purse (San Diego, awesome again etc) and With the early retirement of injury free three year olds being a constant trend- it would do wonders for the sport to see Chrome run a full year next year. We would maybe get to see him on the east coast in the Whitney and Woodward which would be amazing additions to a Pegasus, another Dubai win and capping the year off in the BCC. They are chasing the opportunity to have a horse that could have one of the best career campaigns ever. If he raced next year and won out he could be -Santa Anita Derby winner G1 -Kentucky Derby winner G1 -Preakness winner G1 -Hollywood Derby winner (turf) G1 -Dubai World Cup winner G1 -Pacific CLassic winner G1 -Awesome Again winner G1 -Breeders cup classic winner G1 -inaugural Pegasus World Cup winner G1 -Dubai World Cup Winner G1 -Whitney winner G1 -Woodward winner G1 -Breeders cup classic winner G1 Would have run in three straight DWC's, three BCC's, and been the only KD winner in recent memory to run a full six year old campaign. That's minimum thirteen grade one stakes, on turf and dirt, overseas and at home, against top competition that they would be going after. And he could even have the same rest again after Dubai. The money just makes it worthwhile. It doesn't make them greedy. Martin has shown that he wants Chrome to be called the best- he wants him to break records. He will keep him in training as long as possible because he knows he will never get another horse or ride like this again.
  • BeastBob via Disqus · If he's racing next year, assuming that he wins this year BCC, then the biggest race which will boost his stallion value is the Met Mile. Dual winning G1 Forego, G1 Met Mile along with his resume this year, we're looking at $200k+ stud fee. · 3 days ago
  • Pebbles via Disqus · Where did Taylor Made say that? I posted their last comments on this where they said the likelihood of Chrome racing for another year in July was 5%. I repeatedly asked you to show anything to the contrary and all you could provide was something from Sherman. Nothing from his owners. · 5 hours ago
Chrome is on the Taylor Made Stallion Roster for 2017, doesn't look like he will race next year past the Pegasus
Trainer Todd Pletcher has announced that Javier Castellano will ride Keen Ice in the Breeders Cup Classic, Castellano was the original rider for Shaman Ghost, SG will now be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr.
