Well I also noticed that Faversham's silks were taken off the board. Is there a new ownership?
Truly great animal on the track a BIG BUST in the breeding shed. It is near impossible to compare the great ones of different generations however. Can't compare a Ribot to American Pharoah or Boston to Spectacular Bid. They were the greats of their times
Not to break anyones bubble, but Baffert has Serengeti blazing out there in Cali,so you all take a breath.
Another fine two year old wins on debut. A very well-bred colt as well.
Where is LOCHTE??
I'll miss feeding the Old Boy carrots when he comes to Virginia to winter. He seemed very social, running with other horses in the pasture. The first time I saw Ben, he and another horse were racing along the fence line ten feet away. Hoping his new caretaker finds him plenty of equine buddies, and is ready for visitors.
Where is LOCHTE??
Has been back in Eurton's barn for a few weeks, and has started back with light training.
St. Patrick's Day worked 3F in more reasonable 38.0 today
He worked today at Belmont FYI - so think he's better now? thank god!
  • pointgiven23 via Disqus · After seeing him run this winter, they should try turf. I think the race layout of a typical turf race would help him · 23 hours ago
Has he been injured or retired?
He passed away ?
The debate will go on forever, regarding who the best all time American thoroughbred is.Citation would be my top choice. His losses were better than most of the great's wins were ! So,I'll merely let his numbers speak for themselves.
I rarely get excited about 2yo colts this time of year. However, I liked everything about this colt's dominating first out win. It wasn't the 6.5 length win or the final time that impressed me the most. I liked HOW the colt ran fast and still accelerated at the end of the race. He put away the horse he was on the pace with and finished strong. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers closed to get their placing. Typically speaking, the closers normally look good towards the finish line as they gallop out past and or close to the winner. Not in this case...this colt was all alone and looking great with his ears pricked all the way to the turn in his gallop out. He looked full of energy as he galloped back to the winners circle. This colt has the same sire as his stablemate Gun Runner. He looks like a darker version of Gun Runner. His jockey will wear the same Winchell silks as GR as W is the breeder and owner of Reride. I believe he was shipped to Saratoga with Gun Runner earlier this week. I have a feeling the connections decided to skip the Bashford Manor with him as they have bigger and better plans for this colt. Again, I rarely get excited about 2yo this time of year. Heres to hoping Reride continues to develop and lives up to the talent I believe he has.
I like the way this colt won his last race. It looks as if Winchell has another nice 2yo colt. However, I must say I believe his stablemate (Reride...also owned by Winchell) will be the 2yo to watch going forward. Reride has the same sire and connections as Gun Runner. Reride looks like a darker Gun Runner. Looking forward to see how both of these colts develop.
Nice filly. I hope she gets a little rest and shows up later on at Saratoga. If this filly can stretch out her speed...she will be a good one. I have my doubts. I'm wondering if she simply developed faster than the colts and fillies she beat in the Kentucky Juvenile. Time will tell...looking forward to her next race.
Think he'll be running in the Coral-Eclipse on the 8th?? He's up for two races possible in the next couple of weeks.
This is a very precocious 2YO colt. But running too fast too early among graded stakes company will cost him next year as a 3YO. 2 of the last 3YO male champions (Chrome in 2014 and Arrogate in 2016) didn't win any graded stakes race when they were 2.
Here's an article that caught my eye. Thought it was pretty interesting. If it's been posted somewhere way down on the comments, my apologies. Here it is: https://www.twinspires.com/blog/2017/3/28/seasons-arrogate-how-do-you-measure-great
  • BeastBob via Disqus · I rate them by their average top forms. According to RPR (which account for field strength, winning margin and weight allowance), here is my Arrogate vs Ghostzapper comparison (note that Ghostzapper should have a slight advantage because he also raced as a 5 year old): Arrogate's average RPR for his top 4 graded stakes races = 133 Ghostzapper's average RPR for his top 5 graded stakes races = 129 Arrogate's other races were non graded stakes (I'll update this average to top 5 after his next race). I chose to use top 5 (not average top 2 or 3) so that the horses with more career races would be rewarded for their world-class consistencies. Here are some of the top older horses' RPR numbers: Cigar's top 5 average = 132 California Chrome's top 5 avg = 131 (all as a 5 year old in 2016) Curlin's top 5 avg = 129 · 1 day ago
  • Ferrisjso26 · I agreed with the principles "talent shown over talent had" until he put AP below Arrogate and ignored PG altogether. I think he honestly just forgot PG(the horse with almost the same resume as AP). · 1 day ago
