Lady Eli drew post 1 for the Ballston Spa. Joining her were stablemates Antonoe (p5) and Roca Rojo. Dickinson drew post 6
Last year both Stellar Wind and Lady Eli were both entered for the Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale. As fans we were fortunate that both were withdrawn and have provided us with more great races to enjoy. Both are now scheduled to be sold this November and it is unlikely the same thing will happen again. These two ladies leaving the scene will leave a large void in their respective divisions and though new heroines will take their place they will be greatly missed.
Drew post 10 in the Forego. Goes from inside to outside. Outside worked well for him last time at the Spa
Drew well in post 9 for the Allen Jerkens. Can get a similar trip to last time out
After his 6 length drumming of Venice Beach in today's G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, trainer John Gosden told the Racing Post that Cracksman would not be going to Doncaster next month for the G1 English St Leger, saying the race was never intended to be part of Crackman's agenda this season, and saying he would have to be supplemented to even get into the St Leger field. Gosden said that prior to today, the original plan had been for the Great Voltigeur Stakes to be Cracksman's final start this season and then put him away until next season without having an autumn campaign. But with his impressive showing today at York, Gosden said he entertained the possibility of running Cracksman in the Arc or the Champion Stakes at Ascot, but stopped short of confirming him for either race. Gosden said, "it's a possibility he could run in the Arc or Champion Stakes." "He has those two engagements, but it's only a "possibility" at this time and not a "probability."
Here are just a few horses on top of my head that had much better numbers than Arrogate..#1 Formal Gold..Last 2 career races earned him highest consecutive beyers in history (126..125.124..122)..He retired due to injury with a short career..Easy Goer (124..122..120..120..118)..He also ran "extremely" fast races at ALL distances up to 1 1/2..including record holder for the mile and 2nd fastest belmont ever etc..Skip Away (125..120..118)..Ghostzapper (128..124) Holds track record time in BCC...All these horses ran many HUGE races and in VERY fast time along with tons of Grade 1 wins..HOTY awards..All kinds of Eclipse Awards..Track record holders..on and on..Arrogate has "1" race..The Travers..with a 122 figure..Sorry but he just dont even come close to stacking up with some of these horses let alone horses i did not even mention..This is what i mean when i say peel away the "Hype" and see what you are left with

Read on Twitter Lady Eli is running in the Ballston Spa Saturday. That was a last minute decision? I had previously read Brown was running Antonoe and Roca Rojo.. Wonder if all 3 will still be running.
Even though he had to settle for 2nd behind Ulysses today, who I would argue is the most improved older middle distance horse in Europe at the moment, I was still really pleased with the way Churchill bounced back to near his best today and put that disappointing run at Royal-Ascot in the St James's Palace Stakes behind him. There's no doubt he was on a retrieval mission today, and had some questions that needed answers, and I thought he did just that. He seemed to take the step up in trip from 1600m to 2100m for the first time ever in stride too. I also think his performance today should, for the time being at least, quiet his critics, many of which who've been insisting that he's not as good as Barney Roy, even though in 2 of the 3 races they've met now, Churchill has proven he's every bit Barney Roy's equal, if not more. Ulysses has turned into a cracking good middle distance horse this season, at 2000m & 2400m, so there's certainly no disgrace in being beaten by just under 2 lengths by a horse of Ulysses caliber. I'm saying this right now for the record, if Aidan O'Brien points him at the race, and I'm pretty certain he will now that the distance question has been answered, that Churchill will improve for this run at York over the longer trip and he'll be a major player next month at Leopardstown in the G1 Irish Champion Stakes, IMO.
Wow LAL has worse odds than Giuseppe
"Ulysees" wins the G1 Juddmonte International today at York in impressive fashion, boosting the form of "Enable". I want to tell everyone right now, LUMP on "Enable" right now to win the Arc, bet all the money you have on her, borrow money off all your friends and bet all their money too!!! She's currently around 11/8, 5/4, but after she wins the Yorkshire Oaks tomorrow in impressive and easy style, she will be around 4/7, or 1/2, this time tomorrow!!! So in summary, "Enable" is a racing CERTAINTY to win BOTH the Yorkshire Oaks and the Arc De Triomphe! :-)
Ulysses continues his upward progression winning the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York. Churchill, who bounces back from his disappointing run at Royal-Ascot to run a cracking good race for 2nd on his first career start beyond a mile with favorite Barney Roy a further 1/2 length behind Churchill in 3rd.
Ulysses! An easy winner of the Juddmonte International, always good to see the Flaxman Holdings colors win big races!
10-1......might have to put some money on him. This guy has been consistent. He may be the real deal.
Cracksman absolutely destroys the opposition to win the G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, as the field consisted of three sons of Frankel (Cracksman, Mirage Dancer, & Atty Persse) taking on three sons of Galileo (Venice Beach, Douglas Macarthur, & Spanish Steps) after Count Octave & Khalidi were late scratches.
Kinda sad to see the bashing of everyone out here on the Pretty Songbird's page. There's enough bashing in social media these days - let's enjoy the horses and stop bashing each other out here - please. That said - off to Saratoga Saturday - gonna see this pretty bird for the third time
Don't be surprised if there ends up being some last minute defections from the Juddmonte International Stakes field now after 15mm of rain fell on the track this morning at York, changing the going to good to soft, soft in places from what had been good to firm, good in places overnight.
Change the "I" to a "C" and you get his real name! ha ha ha ha, no sorry, I'm being rude to the horse, he's better than that, but he still got lucky in winning the Ohio Derby, the jockey on "Girvin" stopped riding him before the wire, "Girvin" was the REAL winner of the Ohio Derby. Neither of those two horses will finish on the board in the Travers, and that my friends, is true! :-)
Fun fact #1: Pletcher won his 2nd Travers 6 years after he won his 1st Travers. If Tapwrit or Always Dreaming wins than it will have been 6 more years since Stay Thirsty won. Fun fact #2: The last time the Kentucky Derby winner won the Travers was 10 years ago. And his silks were yellow and blue.
Who out there had a feeling he'd lose the San Diego, but didn't say anything because of the bombardment of very sure "Experts"?
