very nice
This race could be an excellent race if it gets a field of 10. The Jim Dandy has always been my 2nd favorite Grade 2 race (Suburban Handicap) but this could be the finest edition. Here's a mind blower : how about GOVERNOR MALIBU for the win?? Creator not this time even though he paid huge for me in the Belmont. Destin and Mohaymen are certainly wonderful horses and My Man Sam could hit the board as well.
Interesting comments from Gary Stevens this morning. Says he's very confident with his mount Dortmund but also said this isn't a 2 horse race. Says Win the Space is a contender as well. He said that he felt confident of his chances of beating Chrome with Win the Space before he decided to ride Dortmund who ran a 107 beyer last time out and says he's coming into this race better than the last one.
Looks like one to keep an eye on
Only way she can lose is if there is plenty of pace and horses bother her throughout but I don't see any in this race. Should be another workout race for her.
Dortmund will roll!!

I love this horse so much - such a fantastic runner! Although I may be bias - his name is one of my all-time favorite names.
Dortmund has trained forwardly in recent weeks, with a six-furlong workout in 1:12 last Sunday. Still, Baffert cautions not to expect too much from Dortmund on Saturday. “You don’t want to hook a horse like California Chrome first time out,” he said. DRF article
Such a pretty filly, congrats to her connections for running such a good race today!
Seen this coming in that Desormeaux saying he will probably skip the Jim Dandy and train up to the Travers. He wasn't happy with his work this morning 1:14 for 6F. His work at Belmont wasn't good, then last weekends work was quick but not visually impressive according to clockers and now another sluggish work today. Hate thinking negative about this horse but I hope the Belmont didn't ruin him for good.
  • Ruffianlover · The Belmont didn't ruin him. This is still a nice horse. He is just inconsistent and always has been. He took advantage of sloppy tracks that he loves in the Santa Anita derby and Preakness and a wicked fast derby pace. He was exposed in the Belmont with the slow pace. He will be back to fight another day- and if it has a sloppy track or a fast pace watch out · 4 hours ago
  • Mark Kennedy via Disqus · i always am surprised why you even take the time to post I dont think there ever seems to be a time where you have anything positive to say about any offspring of CURLIN i understand debate but you can go over the last yr and you constantly write these horses off or post how bad they are seems odd to me · 3 hours ago
The Galileo half-sister to Giant's Causeway has finally broken her maiden on her 3rd try!
Recorded his first official work today! 3F in :38.00 Over Fast Dirt at Monmouth Park finishing 12/14
4 workouts at Ellore...as long as she continues to progress from her hock ligament issue we may get to see this girl racing again after all.

Highland Reel takes them gate to wire to win the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. As predicted, give him fast ground and he's an entirely different horse than he is racing on soft or even good to soft ground.
  • jonquil · Wings Of Desire looking like he could potentially grow into something great if he doesn't suffer the same dip in form as some others *cough*. He was actually my bet to win or place, but sadly he could just get a length. Dartmouth... was an either going to win or wasn't going to even place and it looks like he's gone with the latter. He has this inconsistency on Ascot that ppl seem to ignore - he's done great on both firm and soft, but he's also done really poorly on both and only last year. Yeah, he's grown, but it looks like he's not there yet. · 3 hours ago
