Friday's 8th race (6:30pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is a $56,000 Maiden Special Weight affair for CA-bred or sired 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the turf course (rail at 15 feet).

#4 Itsgettinhotinhere (5-1) took some action at 5-1 and finished an okay 4th of 10 in his downhill debut for Sadler. He was claimed out of that heat for $50k by Belvior and can go better second time out. He adds blinkers and is bred to handle two turns on turf (Unusual Heat).

#2 Smart Journey (4-1) stretches out and might be the one to catch. He was not quick enough to keep up down the dip but might be able to settle into a nice prominent throughout groove at a flat mile.

#7 Ranger School (5-1) is capable of better in his second career start for Gary Mandella. He has Lido Palace stamina on the bottom so he should appreciate today's added ground.

#6 Lindante (3-1) rallied for the show in his hillside bow. He could improve for Talamo-Fanning but barn is not known for winning turf routes.

#3 Chattering Gambler (7-2) rallied to miss by a neck vs. similar course-distance foes May 24.

The Plays:

$10 to win, $16 to place #4

.10 cent Superfecta 4 with 2, 7 with 2, 3, 6, 7 with ALL ($4.20)

too bad that your 8 lost the rider down the backside

7 mins to post good odds top to bottom here. Tells that it is a chaos race.
very iffy race with multiple surface changers, but before scratches contenders are: 3 Chattering Gambler 2 Smart Journey 6 Lindante 7 Ranger School 2 11 go out front and then 3 5 7 come late. There is a good chance of profit here.
Good betting race for a price. Contenders before scratches: #8, 10, 1, 6, 2. The need here is for speed and the choice goes to the horse with the top connections in the race having speed at a price....#8 Cole Forty Five (12/1). Bet to win 2x place. Exotics...8/ 10, 1, 6, 2 and reverse. Good luck!!!
