Can Bejarano & Hollendorfer do it again?

Thursday's 6th race (3:33pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is an Optional Claiming affair for 3-year-old fillies traveling one mile on the turf course.

#3 Macha (4-1) rallied to finish 3rd, beaten less than a length, after breaking slow from the outside post in her first turf start at nine panels here March 21. New pilot Bejarano is 5-for-6 with Hollendorfer recently and they have been on a roll together the whole meet. She figures to sit closer to a slower pace today.

#5 Pussycat Lips (3-1) was stuck out in post 12 vs.3yo filly stakes rivals March 9. She was competitive without winning in her three previous U.S. starts and Gomez sticks with the late striding Irish-bred miss. She drilled a local turf bullet April 4.

#7 Libourne Eliza (5-1) flashed early-pressing ability in all four overseas outings. Cassidy shows a profit with shippers to the U.S. and she should be competitive with these if ready for first start in more than five months.

The Plays:

$16 to win #3

$5 Exacta Box 3-5 ($10)

$2 Exacta Box 3-7 ($4)

WIDE OPEN affair here. Pace parameters, pars, internal fractions, figures, etc are ALL closely stacked amongst these.. No speed will contribute to a horse shutting the field out by the half, I'll go with #7 Libourne Eliza (5-1), but the #5 Pussycat Lips has ran the fastest pace of race, and is slightly above others.. It looks to be between those two. #3 Macha and #8 Bonnie Lesley should complete the exotics. But, again, wide open... Odds will decide how I play this one... If #5 is sitting at 7-2, BET. If #7 is sitting at 5-1, BET. #5 might be an underlay, and if so $$$$$$. Super: 5-7-3-8.
Contenders before scratches: #3, 5, 6, 8. The #3 Macha will, pending something happening during the race, win this heat. However, the bettors will be all over this horse and you will be lucky to get 5/2 on the horse. In any case, the exotice may offer value. Bet #3 to win. Exactas...3/all. Tri...3/ 5,6,8,4/all. Good luck!!!
