A Jealous Woman can steal Santa Ana

Sunday's 7th race (3:34pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade II Santa Ana Stakes for fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the turf course (rail at 8 feet).

#5 A Jealous Woman (9-2) loves the local weeds and her last clunker can be tossed because she had a throat ailment that day. She is seemingly healthy again with a strong 6f turf bullet for this and there is not much pace in the paper race. She is not a need to lead type but figures to play catch me if you can under Blanc.

#1 Lady of Shamrock (8-5) was the queen of the SoCal 3yo filly turf route division last year. She was last seen finishing 5th in the BC F&M Turf and is training forwardly for her return. The 3-time local winner enjoys this trip and will try to get involved late under Mike Smith.

#6 Tiz Flirtatious (9-5) is a CA-bred gem of consistency for Marty Jones. Leparoux is a solid grass rider and should have options with the versatile sort.

#2 Long Face (20-1) occasionally pace a decent late kick and can sneak into the Trifecta on her best day under Gary Stevens.

#3 Quiet Oasis (5-2) appears best up to a mile and took advantage of less than stellar Graded fields at BHP last summer. She probably needs the outing and won't offer much value.

#4 Smarty B (12-1) is a talented Turf Paradise shipper but she is probably outclassed in this salty spot.

The Plays:

$12 to win #5

$6 Exacta Box 1-5 ($12)

$1 Trifecta 1-5-6/1-5-6/2 ($6)

Older Comments about A Jealous Woman can steal Santa Ana...

*grammar, lol.
*AN illogical choice... Talk about awful grammer.
IF no one comes calling late (of which there accounts for the entire field) Jealous Woman has run versus faster paces of race, BUT at shorter distances.....Still, if the odds are right, not a illogical choice.
tough to beat the favorite in a race named for the town in which I grew up...Wouldn't live there today unless we had armed guards and a special police force outside. My old high School (Santa Ana Valley High) is covered with iron bars and metal detectors!.. 4th and Main is not what it looked like when I lived there. Contenders: 1 Lady of Shamrock 6 Tiz Flirtatious 3 Quiet Oasis (IRE) 5 A Jealous Woman
I think you've got another winner, Jarrod! Bet #5 to win and take exactas with the #2 Long Face....i.e. 5/2. Good luck!!!
