Gymnast Jadie a well-meant second timer under leading rider Bejarano

Thursday's 8th race (4:33pm PT) from Santa Anita is a $20,000 Maiden Claiming event for fillies and mares dashing six and one-half furlongs on the main track.

#6 Gymnast Jadie (5-1) chased from 2nd and faded in her special weight debut over the downhill turf course March 3. I like the rider switch to Bejarano (21% w/Belvoir at SA) and she might go better in this much easier dirt sprint.

#2 Surfing the Menu (5-2) was a brief stalking presence after a bad start in her long ago local bow. Headley is 2-for-4 with this type of layoff runner and she also shows a profit in dirt sprints.

#3 Turf Club Queen (4-1) showed early interest and landed the place in her last pair and low profile trainer Wicker.

#1 Sugar Cat (6-1) debuts for profitable maiden claiming trainer Walsh and she might show speed from the rail under Gonzalez.

The Plays:

$16 to win #6

$6 Exacta Box 2-6 ($12)

$3 Exacta 2-6/1-3 ($12)

Rhyme: 2,4,6,8, check for juice. I don't want to see a field like this ever again. It doesn't matter if it doesn't actually rhyme.
In The Passel of Hounds stakes, the Jarrod pick, 6 Gymnast Jadie, is good. She ran fast for about half of a hill race. The others are so bad that the two firsters, 1 Sugar Cat(damsire is the original t_v, Travelling Victor) and 10 Feather Spirit must be considered, along with the switched to dirt 4, Ron McAnaly's Our Candy Charms. The 4 is terrible on turf. Except that she at least tried in her debut down the hill. Maybe "last ditch" to make the surface switch. 1,6,4,10
too many unknowns and variations that do not follow logic
