Saturday's 8th race (4:07pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade II San Luis Rey Stakes for 4-year-olds and up traveling a mile and a half on the turf course.
#2 Interaction (2-1) ran too good to lose off the shelf as my top in the G2 San Marcos (10 furlongs) after cutting a double digit deficit to a length behind lone speedster and today's rival #1 Slim Shadey (3-1). He earned his best number at this trip in the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup and today's pilot Blanc booted him home at BHP last summer. #7 Bright Thought (7-2) ensures honest splits and my top should mow 'em down with clear sailing at this marathon distance.

#8 All Squared Away (8-1) finished 3rd in the San Marcos and has been effective up to ten panels. He has never raced this far but should get pace help and can spice up the exotics.
#9 Bourbon Bay (7-2) loves the local weeds but appears to have lost a step. The 7yo gelding won this last year and is a 4-time winner at twelve furlongs.
Slim Shadey probably won't get loose this time and appears best up to ten panels. He does his best work over the local weeds and missed by a head in this event last year.
Bright Thought has never raced this far and gets tested for class. His speed task is not impossible but I think they reel him in late.
$18 to win #2
$4 Exacta 2-8 ($4)
$2 Exacta 8-2
$1 Trifecta 2/ALL/8 ($6)
