Thursday's 7th race (4:06pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is an Optional Claiming heat for CA-bred 4-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the downhill turf course (rail at 24 feet).

#2 Letsgetitright (5-1) could not handle nine panels for new trainer Mike Mitchell here Jan 7. He reunites with winning pilot Krigger and early-pressing route types typically do well down the dip.

#3 Dixieland Blues (4-1) exits a sharp course/distance maiden win and might be this good for Marty Jones. Davis Flores sticks with the versatile sort.

#4 Don Perico (6-1) got a spin over the local hillside course Dec 29 and could be sitting on a top effort in his 3rd start off the shelf. Rosario strings along and Marty Jones conditions this one as well.

#9 Fire In Excess (12-1) invades for sharp NoCal trainer Miyadi and today's pilot Eswan Flores booted home three here on Sunday. He won his lone turf sprint start and looms a pace factor at the very least.

The Plays:

$12 to win #2

$4 Exacta Box 2-3 ($8)

$2 Exacta 2-3/4-9 ($8)

$1 Trifecta 2-3/2-3-4-9/2-3-4-9 ($12)
