Sunday's 8th race (4:07PM PT) from Santa Anita is the Grade 2 San Luis Obispo Handicap for 4yo's and up traveling twelve furlongs on the turf. #3 Bourbon Bay (4-1) always threatened to be a nice horse but never quite delivered the goods...until last time. Drysdale gave twelve furlongs a whirl, and the gelded son of Sligo Bay responded with a resounding optional claiming tally. Reunites with Bejarano and returns to the graded ranks on top of his game. Stalking trip likely. #8 Sudden War (3-1) is 2 for 3 at this distance, and he got a nice nine furlong local prep to cap his 2009 season. McPeek trainee might get brave if able to shake loose early. #1 Dynamic Range (5-2) ran into his talented stablemate Loup Breton last time. Consistent sort is 1 for 1 at this distance, but the logical contender might get overbet on the win end. The Plays: $24 to win #3, $4 Exacta Box 3-8 ($8), $1 Trifecta 3/1-8/ALL ($14), $1 Trifecta 3/ALL/1-8 ($14)

The #5 spoiled my Exacta, but we hit the TRI which came in 3/ALL/1-8 and paid a nice $317 on a $14 bet. Nice play once again.
