Friday's 8th race (4:38pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is a $30,000 Maiden Claiming event for 3-year-old fillies traveling seven furlongs on the main track.

#4 Firendesire (6-1) finished 7th of 12 at 66-1 in her state bred MSW bow Jan 1. She dropped to this level second time out and finished 3rd from the rail after dueling for the lead at 2-1. Profitable trainer Steve Knapp switches riders to Mojica, who is 2-for-4 with this outfit recently.

#8 Nekomata (4-1) drops and dons the hood for Puype (3 wins Monday). Today's pilot Talamo has been clicking with this barn recently and she could show more in her third lifetime start.

#11 Sharp Bella (5-2) got a feel for the local dirt oval in a troubled 4th place finish off the shelf Jan 18. She turns back and returns in a week for the productive Leparoux/Biancone team.

#3 Bluejoy (8-1) lugged out and steadied in a local drubbing for Asmussen Nov 1. She returns at the same $30k level and Bejarano hops aboard. She flashed ability in her Lone Star bow and deserves another chance.

#9 Warren's Fantasy (8-1) attracts Gary Stevens and appears capable of rallying for a share.

The Plays:

$18 to win #4

$1 Trifecta 3-4-8-11/3-4-8-11/9 ($12)

Besides my "Play of the Day" I am not wagering at all tomorrow. But, I did handicap this race on 365horses.com (Free PP's) and I liked the 3 and 8. The 3. if goes off at long odds, should be a play. The 8 looks good here as well. Good luck, as always, Jarrod.
