Sunday's 7th race (3:00PM PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort Stakes for 3-year-olds traveling a flat mile on the turf course. The Los Angeles area has been plagued by rain since the Hollywood meet concluded so there will almost certainly be some give in the ground. Sidney's Candy
ensures an honest pace and value-oriented colt #3 Bogie
(8-1) will be finishing in his first start in more than six months. My top choice owns an ascending Final Time Rating pattern (see BRIS capture below) and graduated on yielding ground in Ireland. Sharp turf rider Garrett Gomez hops aboard the fresh stretch threat.
#4 Sebastian Flyte
(3-1) is also on the upswing and just missed in the G1 Hollywood Derby Nov 28. He scored at this flat mile distance in his US bow and horses bred in Great Britain frequently do well over less than firm ground in this country. #5 Sidney's Candy
(8-5) was not disgraced in the BC Mile and remember that he missed his prep for that event. A repeat of his G2 La Jolla romp at Del Mar would probably be enough but the footing will be different and he will not offer much value today. The Plays: $20 to win #3, $1 Trifecta Key 3/4-5 ($2), $1 Trifecta 3-4/3-4-5/ALL ($28)analysis by Jarrod Horak
