Sunday's 7th race (3:35pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade II La Canada Stakes for 4-year-old fillies traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the main track.
#6 More Chocolate (9-2) got tested for class in the G3 Robert Frankel on turf Dec 30 and was hardly disgraced in a solid show finish. She has reportedly been pointing to this race for quite some time and I like the looks of her local 6f bullet Jan 14. Gomez is riding well here and Sadler shows a profit turf/dirt. The versatile sort can post a mild upset if she handles the footing.
#2 Lady of Fifty (6-5) exits a sharp score in the G2 Bayakoa on synthetic and won a minor Stakes affair here Nov 1. The obvious early-pressing threat is 2-for-2 at this distance and Garcia/Hollendorfer do business together.
#3 Book Review (7-5) did not earn much of a number in the G1 La Brea but she wore down a couple of talented fillies (Reneesgotzip, My Miss Aurelia) over wet fast footing that day. The seven panel lover might find this trip a bit beyond her scope.
