More Chocolate looks sweet in La Canada

Sunday's 7th race (3:35pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade II La Canada Stakes for 4-year-old fillies traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the main track.

#6 More Chocolate (9-2) got tested for class in the G3 Robert Frankel on turf Dec 30 and was hardly disgraced in a solid show finish. She has reportedly been pointing to this race for quite some time and I like the looks of her local 6f bullet Jan 14. Gomez is riding well here and Sadler shows a profit turf/dirt. The versatile sort can post a mild upset if she handles the footing.

#2 Lady of Fifty (6-5) exits a sharp score in the G2 Bayakoa on synthetic and won a minor Stakes affair here Nov 1. The obvious early-pressing threat is 2-for-2 at this distance and Garcia/Hollendorfer do business together.

#3 Book Review (7-5) did not earn much of a number in the G1 La Brea but she wore down a couple of talented fillies (Reneesgotzip, My Miss Aurelia) over wet fast footing that day. The seven panel lover might find this trip a bit beyond her scope.

The Plays:

$10 to win #6

$10 Exacta Box 2-6 ($20)

$5 Exacta Box 2-3 ($10)

@cognibene. An article I posted on HRN earlier this week about Sadler pointing her to this race got me looking at her. I liked her dirt works, improving numbers pattern, and versatile running style, and I figured she would offer value.
Thanks, rafirox. Sadler said she might go in the Santa Margarita next.
Congratulations Jarrod. I don't know how you picked that horse (probablly on connections) but it was a good pick nonetheless. Horse really ran today.
Great shot Jarrod!
Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot to write good luck, LOL. Good Luck, Jarrod! This one should be fun to watch.
Good luck with your play as well, rafirox. Willa should be forwardly placed and won two Graded races over the SA main track in 2012.
Interesting play, jarrod. Lady of Fifty really is classy, and I think she should win. I agree. I think this is a bit to far for Book Review to win against this sort of competition. More Chocolate is a complete mystery horse. She could love the dirt, or hate it, we have no idea. If she takes the surface she could do it, I think it is definitely logical. I have Willa B Awesome across, because she is back on the dirt, and I think she could come with a big performance. I got $4 Across on #4, and a 2-3-4 exacta box.

Lady of Fifty probably won't offer much value but she is strictly the one to beat.
Been waiting for this race and Lady Of Fifty to win. Was hoping for E to run for better odds on LoF. Think I'll go 1 through 4 for the super.
