Sunday's 8th race (4:05pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is the Grade II San Gabriel Stakes for 4-year-olds and up traveling a mile and an eighth on the turf course (rail at 15 feet).

#6 Chosen Miracle (3-1) stretched out and earned big Pace & Final Time Ratings in a wire job vs. salty Optional Claiming foes at BHP Dec 8. Hollendorfer keeps on rolling and the fleet son of Ghostzapper will take them as far as he can under Talamo.

#4 Slim Shadey (2-1) likes this grass course and owns running style versatility. He reunites with winning pilot Gomez and will probably stalk my top from the outset.

#7 Jeranimo (9-5) has dropped three straight and 6 of his last 7. The classy veteran may have lost a step but switches to Bejarano and will try to get involved late.

#1 Temple's Door (8-1) seems a cut below but could fall into a great ground saving tactical trip under Tyler Baze. He hails from the profitable Mullins barn and could sneak into the Trifecta.

The Plays:

$6 Exacta 6-4

$2 Trifecta Key 6/1-4-7 ($12)

$1 Trifecta 1-4-7/6/1-4-7 ($6)

$1 Trifecta 4-6-7/4-6-7/1 ($6)

I like the pick, even though there won't be much value in this race. #6 Chosen Miracle is in the best form, but will have to run back to his form at about this time last year. Can he do it? The horse to fear is #7 Jeranimo, the morning line favorite who is legitamate and the class of the race, going first off a layoff and switching riders to the hot R. Bejarano. Personally I wouldn't be this race. But if you must, bet #6 to win with an exacta box 6/7. Good luck!!!
