Thursday's 6th race (3:33pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is an Optional Claiming event for CA-bred or sired 3-year-old fillies dashing five and one-half furlongs on the main track.

#4 Bert's Altarcation (3-1) dueled through above par splits and beat next out winner and today's rival Tribal Gal in her Del Mar bow as the heavy favorite July 14. She had an uncomfortable trip from the inside post against state bred Stakes sprinters second time out and dueled/faded in the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies over a route of ground when last seen Oct 13. She reunites with winning pilot Bejarano and can rebound at this shorter trip for quality conditioner Marty Jones.

Contenders before scratches: #2, 6, 7, 4. The favorite #1 Funny Gal is legitamate and must be beaten. My choice goes to the #2 Pine Walk (4/1) - Baffert/Garcia. There are too many "need to lead" types here and the race will come down to the best closer...that will come down to the #6 and #2. Play #2 to win. Exacta 2/all. Tri...2/6, 7, 4/all. Good luck!!!
