Saturday's 9th race (10:14pm CT) from Remington Park is the $300,000 Springboard Mile for 2-year-olds traveling a flat mile on the main track.

#5 Fire Alarm (15-1) smartly graduated as the even money favorite in his Presque Isle synthetic route bow and finished an even 4th behind subsequent 1-3 Ky Jockey Club (G2) finishers Gemologist and Timely Tally at Churchill Oct 30. He fired a local bullet for this Dec 3 and should offer value for the productive Berry-Calhoun team.

#6 Mr Bluegrass Music (6-1) ran well in both local outings and earned quality numbers both times. He is bred to go this far and looms a pace factor at the very least.

#9 Ted's Folly (5-1) has rattled off five straight here and has some distance influences on the female side of his pedigree. His numbers are climbing.

#11 No Spin (4-1) has won on turf/synthetic and his lone dirt start was in the G1 Champagne against the likes of Union Rags. He showed a nice late kick on the weeds last time and Rosier has options from the outside post with the versatile sort.

#1 Seeker (2-1) earned a big number in his Spa maiden breaker but disappointed in two starts since. He dons the hood and tries a route but won't offer much value.

#1a Basalt (2-1) got up to earn his diploma at seven panels here Nov 18. He is bred to route and should continue to progress.

The Plays: $16 to win #5, $1 Trifecta 5-6/1-5-6-9-11/1-5-6-9-11 ($24)
