Royal Reward shoots for hat trick at Presque Isle

Amount Bet:
$30.00
Amount Cashed:
$162.60

Tuesday's 1st race (5:25pm ET) from Presque Isle Downs is a $41,000 entry level Allowance event for 3-year-old fillies dashing five and one-half furlongs on Tapeta footing.

#2 Royal Reward (4-1) has earned better numbers in each of her four career outings. The rapidly improving filly exits back-to-back course/distance tallies and could easily make it three straight with further development. Her connections are easy to like and a tactical trip at a hint of a price is projected.

The Plays: $12 to win, $18 to place #2

many breeding contracts were cancelled this season already so as to not have the knacker truck have to visit too many farms. The slaughter will be unimagineable with evey bit of blood on the hands of the imbeciles in government.

You also need to add Hiawatha, Kawartha Downs who are definitely closing. At this point the future is also uncertain for Woodbine and Mohawk given the idea being floated around of a downtown casino which would put them out too. Not only are thousands of people losing but the toll on the horses is also horrible. To anyone who is interested there are petitions to send to the govt on every race tracks website. They may not help, but I have signed them

I think the horse industry has got to get a plan together, both harness and thoroughbred, to battle back. It was successful in PA and Indiana. Ny breeders have a lot of top money people, including Jeff Gural who is a big donor. Cuomo is ambitious, but he needs people like Gural. One of the problems in Ontario is that WEG thought it could manipulate the situation so when smaller track like Windsor were closing, they were silent and now with at least four tracks closing and more to follow, they got religion.

I overheard a group of stewards detailing on how, other than seniority, they were going to keep their jobs. I know of one lady who spent three years and many thousands getting her credentials to be a judge now having NO place to hawk her wares. I am wondering if I will have a job next season.

When all of Ontario racing goes under, New York and other tracks won't be far behind.

I have a good friend who is strictly a standardbred fan and we did visit pretty much all of the harness tracks in Ontario in the mid to late 60s. I think it was Bluebonnettes we were at when the announcer started in English and at the half switched over to French.
