We conducted the random draw this morning to determine the winner of the "Beat Shutty SIlly" contest this past Saturday. njtrader and colt45ss both selected the The Factor while my selection was JP'S Gusto. And, the winner is....njtrader! Congratulations. You are etitled to any wagers up to $50 to be placed on this coming Saturday's Louisana Derby. I will reach you by email to confirm receipt of this notification
Just landed in CA and checked out the Rebel replay. Wow! The Factor, while unmolested on the lead, still cut swift fractions (looking forward to see how BRIS rates the pace of this one) and then dug in and drew away when challenged. Pretty impressive effort. So, he easily answered the next quesiton...can he carry his speed going 1 1/16? Yes!!! Now we go to 1 1/8 miles and hopefully more pace pressure to see if we have a live Derby win contender here. We have two fans that correctly selected the winner in this race and for the first time in three weeks someone finally "Beat Shutty Silly" Congrats to NJtrader and colt45ss. A shake on Monday morning will determine which of these two guys earns a $50 wager on next Saturday's Lousiana Derby. Congrats and thanks to all for playing. We'll do it again next week.
the factor made it look easy what a monster
I agree with LittleNemo on his pick. I will also try to recover from the beating that Premier Pegasus gave me last week and go with Sway Away.

Hey Mike please check your program numbers I think its off. Would hate to see guys lose a wager on a typo. Thanks Mike your picks are great.
Mike: While I have tremendous respect for JP's Gusto, I'm banking on a big surprise race similar to the Tampa Bay Derby. I am taking a flyer on #12 Bluegrass Jam. This guy has great breeding, top and bottom. He has been well managed by trainer, William Fires, in his four race career. Loves the distance and is capable of going more, as in the KD 137 distance. Bluegrass Jam has posted one of the top workout sets of this highly competitive group in preparation for this race. Though not nominated to the Triple Crown, he has the potential to compete with this great group of horses. Look for Bluegrass Jam to take advantage of what may be a torrid pace. Jockey, Michael Baze will have him well positioned closing for the wire. #12 Bluegrass Jam $2 WIN, $4 PLACE, and $6 SHOW.
Jp all the way
the factor by open lengths
I'm going with Elite Alex. What a prep race. Looking forward to it.
  • colt45ss · martin rations his speed and the factor establishes himself as a major may player the track will be souped up and he will win by open lengths its not bafferts first trip to the rodeo this horse will be ready · 2094 days ago
LittleNemo--Good catch on the Program #'s. Bluegrass Jam and J W Blue will run as an entry but as the Field versus a typical 1/1A coupled entry. My apologies for the confusion this had to create. So the official Program Numbers are as follows: 1 Archarcharch; 2 Alternation; 3 Dreaminofthewin; 4 Picko's Pride; 5 J P's Gusto; 6 The Factor; 7 Caleb's Posse; 8 Saratoga Red; 9 Sway Away; 10 Elite Alex; 11 Glint; 12 Field--BlueGrass Jam, J W Blue
I watched your video and wanted to know if I have the numbers of the entries wrong, or does your bet portion of the entries have #6 The Factor as your key on top of the Superfecta? J.P.'s Gusto is #5 in all the programs I've seen and I'm not sure if that would affect the other horses that you chose in your betting portion of the video.
In a race that should be a real treat to watch, I really like your pick of J.P.'s Gusto to win this race. However I'm gonna go with the horse that finished 2nd to him last year in the Best Pal and also finished a fast closing 2nd to The Factor in the San Vincente. My choice to win this race is the #9 Sway Away who should relish the longer distance.
Alternation is my pick
