Friday's 8th race (4:44pm CT) from Oaklawn Park is a $42,000 entry level Allowance event for state bred fillies and mares dashing six furlongs on the main track.

#1 Spadra (7-2) smartly captured her $50,000 state bred debut at Louisiana Downs for Al Stall Jr. She shows up in a profitable low profile barn (Lynn Whiting) and should make her presence felt throughout from the inside. She sports two solid local drills for this and could could easily be this good.

#10 Cinnabean (10-1) hails from a sharp barn and graduated over a next out winner here Jan 15.

#6 K J And A Half (15-1) won her Remington bow before taking action and finishing 4th behind my top at Louisiana Downs last September.

The Plays:

$24 to win #1

.50 cent Trifecta 1/6-10/ALL ($8)

.50 cent Trifecta 1/ALL/6-10 ($8)

$440 trifecta was much better than one would have projected

Oaklawn is a funny place that give strong credence to the notion of horses for courses as MANY animal who start here from Remington, the Fair Grounds and Hawthorne get their collective heads handed to them the first few times they compete there. Explosive Disco, the 8, has shown very good races over this course, even in a grade two last season. A layoff, if she comes with even close to her A game she is long gone here, BUT layoffs don't always fire. She obviously needed a break after her last at Presque Isle. The only ones close are the 1 6 and the 7
