Tuesday's 8th race (9:41pm ET) from Mountaineer is a Starter Allowance contest for fillies and mares dashing five and one-half furlongs on the main track.

#7 La Grenouille (6-1) exits back-to-back strong local 6f efforts from the rail. She draws an outer post in a race full of early runners and today's pilot Radosevich guided her to a stalk/pounce win from post 10 at Turfway earlier this year.

Play Tuesday’s Mountaineer games at DerbyWars.com.

#4 Martinis At Lunch (9-2) has romped in her last three local sprints. She owns early-pressing versatility and must be respected in her current form.

#6 Historical Fact (6-1) is best as a prominent throughout dirt sprinter so her last two below par efforts in a turf sprint and dirt route can be forgiven.

The Plays:

$18 to win #7

$3 Exacta 7/4-6 ($6)

$3 Exacta 4-6/7 ($6)

Contenders before scratches: #4, 6, 1a, 2, 8. The favorite, #2 Joy Train is legitimate but is just too slow for this bunch. Agree with T.V. the need is for SPEED. The horse that fills the bill and my choice is the #8 Mining Town (8/1). Can't argue with speed at a price. Good luck!!!
contenders: 4 Martinis At Lunch 2 Joy Train 7 La Grenouille 6 Historical Fact seems that no one here is a definitive early threat and that they all come later. Scenarios like that are ALWAYS unreliable as SOMEONE always goes out early, AND, often, never looks back. Again, the ODDS board will determine if these are worth a wager......Mountaineer tends to be a track of huge underlays and overlays with few in between: a reason NOT to play it on a regular basis.
