Wednesday's 6th race (2:56pm ET) from Laurel Park is a $35,000 entry level Allowance heat for 4-year-old fillies dashing five and one-half furlongs on the main track.

#7 Mariposa Rosa (4-1) has fired Exacta shots in four straight and recently hot trainer Wolfendale has clicked with 4 of his last 5 starters. Sheldon Russell rides her well and has options from the outside post with the versatile sort. She is up from the $5,000 claiming ranks and fits on numbers.

The Plays: $30 to win #7

Laurel used to be a great Fall meeting. It has fallen on very hard times. Slow track, slower horses and a state government at odds to the racing industry. In this short sprint, the rail horse, Classe Signora, has consistently made big late moves against rather a quick pace up front. 4 and 5 appear to be the pace setters here and either one can run off with this one if they got the shot. In this short field the odds will be nonexistent....Laurel is not an easy course to handicap. If there is a total, TOTAL pace collapse, which is rare at this distance, the 7 has an outside shot to close toward the pacesetters.
