Saturday's 7th race (3:25pm EST) at Laurel Park on paper appears to be short on speed, with one exception... Chac Mool, especially on a dirt oval that seemed to be kind to speed on Friday afternoon.
#8 Chac Mool (7-2) makes his first start after being claimed for $10k (4th by 5 1/2) by trainer Jay Bernardini (17% in '12), but just 1 for 31 at Laurel Park. That 6f race was filled with early speed, so his 4th place finish was very credible for a runner used to going only 5f. This 5-year-old gelded son of Yes It's True is always quick from the gate. IF jockey Richard Monterrey can harness his speed/energy in the early going, he just might be able to win for the first time in 10 tries going 6 furlongs.
The Play: $10 WIN #8 and $20 PLACE #8
