Saturday's 8th race (3:55pm EST) at Laurel Park is the $125k Frank Whiteley, Jr. Stakes for 3-year-olds, going 7 furlongs. A field of 10 is scheduled to go postward, and without a prohibitive favorite, this is a great betting race.

SCRATCHES: #3 - Heat Press, #9 - In the Fairway, #10 - Hanky Doodle alters this original play...
#9 In the Fairway (10-1) is a WV-bred son of Posse. Makes his sixth career start and shots for his fifth straight victory. Connections finally exit CT to test just how good he may be. His only defeat came in his debut over a muddy track. CT shippers rarely get respect, and based on his M/L odds (10-1), he'll be overlooked as well.

His speed rating ranks among the best against these 9 rivals, so at a generous price, he's the one to beat in my book. Others to consider if you play exotics are #4 - Keep the Canoli (8-1) and #1 - Patrick S (5-1).

Due to SCRATCHES go with #4 - Keep the Canoli as Greg Sacco ships in w/ Chris DeCarlo in the irons. Add #7 - Saint Arbor (12-1) to your exotics.

The Play: $10 WIN #4, $20 PLACE #4 and $2 Ex Box 1-4-7

Selections for all 9 races on the Laurel Park on Saturday (Jan. 19th) card, including BEST BET and LONGSHOT PLAY of the Day, see Maryland's Own GQ.
