Grade 2 Super Derby (5:12PM CT): #5 Blame (7-2) sports the look of the now horse in this event. Has fired in all 5 outings, and his sire, dam sire, and trainer all won this race in the past. He exits a fine Curlin Stakes score at this nine furlong distance, and place finisher Gone Astray came back to dust his rivals in the Penn Derby. Note that Theriot is 3 for 3 with him. #4 Regal Ransom (5-2) was last seen tracking the pace in 8th of 19 Derby run. UAE Derby winner can fire a fresh shot and looms the one to reel in. #3 Massone (4-1) always runs his race for McAnally, and Gomez has been aboard for both of his wins. The upsetter if able to handle conventional dirt. #2 Soul Warrior (2-1) defeated Derby winner Mine That Bird last time, and the Asmussen trainee is a threat for the top prize with a similar effort. Johnny V hops aboard the underlaid contender. #1 Red Lead (15-1) has been pointing to this race for months, and he received a nice local prep in the Prelude. Should sit a great ground saving tracking trip under Torres. #6 Uno Mas (8-1) got up to win the Prelude, but he failed in his other 7 stakes tries and seems a cut below. #7 Electric Alphabet (15-1) ran well in the Prelude and retains the leading rider. Wide stalking trip projected, and he's still eligible for an entry level spot. The Plays: $36 to win #5, $1 trifecta key 5/1-2-3-4 ($12), $1 trifecta 2-3-4-5/2-3-4-5/1 ($12)
