I don't know if this pic of him has been posted yet or not because my phone is hating on me today- but even if it has its worth another look
“What’s so great about her is the way she travels,” noted Porter. “She can do these types of fractions in just a gallop, and when Mike (Smith) knows she’s gonna win, he just gears her down.” According to Porter, she was so talented that Mike Smith, who was mulling retirement, told a couple of jockeys at Keeneland that he wouldn’t as long as she was running. CCA, Alabama, Cotillion, Breeders Cup Distaff here she comes. She will remain on easy coast until after the Alabama. Porter believe her biggest threat will be Carina Mia
Boy, talk about a feel good story turning into a tragic, disgraceful nightmare. Maria Borell went from capturing the hearts of the American people to downright betrayal and humiliation. The crimes Borell has committed has no place in this world. These animals were neglected and abandoned. Maria and her father should pay for their crimes and I hope Maria never gets near another horse again.
Liam's Map's 1/2 bro debuts in the 3rd @ CD tomorrow 5/1 ML {saywhat?}
Check out the hypo matings of American Pharoah with Beholder and Songbird below. Songbird is an A+ according to TrueNicks.
Saratoga: make sure you walk all around the track, over by the backstretch, near the gate and don't miss the US Racing Museum across the street (it is a treat unto itself). When I was last there a year ago, they were building a smaller exhibit near the main grandstand entrance as a display of what the Hall of Fame is all about to entice more participation. There is a smaller version of the great Secretariat statute in the paddock at Belmont, in a quiet garden area in the Hall of Fame. A must see. Look for the jockey silks room too: very colorful as far as you can see. The place exudes HISTORY in spades.
  • Pebbles via Disqus · Make certain to take the backstretch tours - the Oklahoma walking tour you can find out information about at the Racing Museum. It requires a donation, but the donation gets you admission to the museum. The main track tours are every morning I believe except Tuesday when the track is closed and Travers day. They start at 7:30/8:00 AM. · 1 day ago

Hoping for her first grade 1. Good luck Off the Tracks
Fox Hill Farms has shared a US Racing article revealing plans for Songbird: the Coaching Club American Oaks, then the Alabama, then the Cotillion, and then hopefully the Breeders Cup. She'll ship out a few days before the CCAO and remain on the east coast until after the Alabama, when she will ship home and then back again before the Cotillion. Go Songbird go!
For those of you following this Mercer County situation, BH is reporting that Chuck Borell has been arrested today in Kentucky, taken into custody, and charged with 43 counts of second degree cruelty to animals. I'm sure specific ramifications and details will be forthcoming. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/212868/chuck-borell-charged-with-animal-cruelty
6 of the horses have been taken to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation - including Z Camelot & Silver Cliff. They are posting photos and updates on their FB.
man o war also raced with 40 pound weights on, something most people don't know, and that's because he was so good, if triple crown was a thing then, he would have won it
  • boatandoar via Disqus · Triple crown was a thing then .man o war didn't race Kentucky Derby · 37 days ago
  • sczen50 · Yes I knew of this... also count how much he carried incl/ the shoes he wore..not like now going back to the 40's where they run on aluminum...he ran on cast iron or steel shoes. A bit heavier. And he ran Both ways! Left & right-handed. lol · 12 hours ago
I'll always be a fan of Man o' War...regardless.
  • sczen50 · Glad to hear that!! ;=) He was Thee Best regardless!! When you weigh out All of the factors!. :) Something they never tell you about.. remember he did run under a pull alot..also the 'shoes' he wore! Steel or Cast Iron...all the time. Even more weight in races.. more than the aluminum they run on since the 40's even. And the starting line for timing was different then..the surfaces much less.. he ran Both ways! Clock-wise & counter-clockwise..how many do & have done that? lol · 12 hours ago
Was a Champion and could've been Great!!~
Something to consider-as I've mentioned before..the weight concession FL & Dorty could be getting from Chrome. I wonder what they'd be putting on him--or Them??
I love Firing Line. He is my favorite horse in training. I don't doubt his talent at all, but I think that racing him against Dortmund and CC in his first appearance in 14 months would be downright foolish.
I heard talk that they were targeting the Arlington Million with him. I would hope he would go in the UN, but that does not look like the case. Too bad. http://www.drf.com/news/flintshire-flaunts-his-class-winning-manhattan "As for Flintshire, there are no set plans right now, though his connections will work backward from the Breeders’ Cup Turf, and given the ease with which Flintshire won over 1 1/4 miles, Brown said he’d not be afraid to consider the Arlington Million in August." It is either the Sword Dancer or the Arlington Million since they both are within 2 weeks of each other. I think the UN looks like a nice prep race for the Arlington Million, but they could train up to it.
I think his next step should be the Indiana derby, nice g2 and purse!
  • Zafonic via Disqus · Or, they could give him a couple of extra weeks rest and shoot for the G2 West Virginia Derby $750k. Indiana is Amoss' stomping grounds. · 14 hours ago
Will stand his first season at Arrowfield Stud before being moved to Haras d'Etreham for 2017. His stud fee will be €11,100/Aus $16,500. Nicolas de Chambure, the general manager for Haras d'Etreham is very excited for their new addition, "Redoute's Choice was really well received when he spent two years in France and I think French and European breeders were very impressed by the quality of his stock.... I was therefore very keen to find one of his sons and Scissor Kick has everything I was looking for. He hails from one of the best families in Europe, he is an outstanding individual and he was a Group 1 performer with class and courage. It didn't take me long to make up my mind about him and I am very pleased to be working with Arrowfield to offer such an exciting prospect in France next year."
