Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup (4:30PM PT): I tabbed the well bred #5 PARADING (4-1) for this race following his visually impressive Ben
Ali (G3) tally in April. He won the grassy Dixie (G2) when last seen in May, and
the fresh horse appears primed for grade one glory. Projects a decent stalking
trip under Kent D. Nose shy of 4 straight wins. #10 Life Is Sweet (9-2) takes on
a less than stellar group of males. She had her three race win streak snapped by
undefeated stablemate Zenyatta last time, and she has earned impressive late
pace figs in all four starts this year. #4 Bullsbay (8-1) was last seen
finishing an even 4th in the Grade 1 Foster, and the consistent sort was part of
exacta in 6 of 7 before that. Tiznow offspring handles synthetic. #8 Rail Trip
(5-1) has been part of exacta in all 7 starts. He owns fine early-pressing speed
but has not won beyond a mile and a sixteenth. Probably finds this distance a
bit too far, and the Californian (G2) came back weak, so I'll toss those exiting
that heat. #3 Mast Track (20-1) is the defending champ but had not done much
since. He stole this race last year but meets other speed this time around. #2
Big Booster (12-1), #9 Tres Borrachos (30-1), and #13 Magnum (12-1) are capable
of spicing up the exotics. The Plays: $24 to win #5 to win, $8 Quinella 5/4-10 ($16), $1 Trifecta key
5/2-4-9-10-13 ($20)
