#2 Unorthodox (8-1) has found his niche routing on conventional dirt. After finishing off the board in a trio of turf starts to begin his career, the gelded son of Congrats cruised to an easy Maiden tally in the local mud Oct 19. Another unplaced turf effort followed, and he altered course and closed into slow fractions to miss by a nose vs. similar course/distance foes Dec 2. Perez rides him well.
#10 Prime Speed (7-2) was nabbed out of his last by claiming artist Rusty Hellman (25%/1st off claim). Thornton is 4-for-4 with this barn recently and he has the numbers to compete here. He won at Hawthorne Oct 7 and is most effective stalking the pace.
